I would go with Sony Monitor's (MDR-V600): http://amzn.to/N56OqE

I am an audio engineer and I (and the majority of engineers out there) use these due to their accuracy. They produce great, accurate sound and are also affordable to most everyone (usually under $200). To get better, you will be spending a LOT of money as the $150-300 range usually match each other. I have a shure, 2x sennheisers, boss (hate it when it comes to comparison, but it was a gift) and the 2x the sony monitors (one personal, one I travel with for work).

So there be my vote! :)

The only pair that really impressed me enough to say they are better....they were $1400 and requires a $1500 amp to go with it (not reasonable).
