i put a little drop on the back of the i5 and then i put the cooler on it

How little is little? You could probably had a second fan to help as ghot suggested. From what I read it doesn't really matter the application method of the Evo 212.

Are you using AS5? That stuff's antiquated and a good amount of curing time.
