So I recently got a Gigabyte 980 Ti G1 Gaming ( http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/?gid=3080&graphics=GeForce%20GTX%20980%20Ti%20Gigabyte%20G1%20Gaming%206GB%20Edition ) and I've wanted to try to push it a little bit.
This is my first PC so I'm new to everything still. Just finished my build about a month ago.

Anyway, I'm using MSI Afterburner to push it, and here's where I have it:

I just played a game of Overwatch (epic/ultra maxed out settings), and I'm averaging ~15-20 more FPS (~165 stable) vs the usual ~145 (usually a bit higher, but it bottoms out here). Here are the readings:

You can see where I was in game and when I pulled up jsp and closed Overwatch. That last big drop and spike at the end was the game ending and going to lobby then me quitting (obviously).

Basically, I want to know if my power and GPU usage readings are normal when playing a game like this or if my little bit of overclocking is making the usage bounce around and the GPU throttle itself.
The usage was ranging from 80-99 depending on if I was in base or in a firefight, usually sticking close to 87-91 for most of the game. The power only jumped around from like 78-86.

I'm honestly not sure how. I don't know what order you do things in and what is safe. I had tried bumping the clock to +150 and my Overwatch crashed after 10 minutes of a game. I then tried giving it +30 power in MSI AB. It lasted a while, then crashed again. Then I tried adding a little voltage, but I have no idea what's safe and what I should add. I tried adding +30 and it crashed during Overwatch as well eventually. I didn't bother messing with the memory speed because as far as I can tell, you only get a few more FPS for a lot of heat.

crank power up all the way (it's fine, the bios in the card limits it and many people put custom bios to raise that anyway)
raise core clock until games crash
raise voltage and see if it helps, you can likely crank this up all the way too lol same as the power limit, it's limited in bios and doesn't go that high
you can also raise the memory speed a pretty significant amount too, +200-500 mhz

if you want to get even more into it, you can get a custom bios that raises the power limit further, maybe unlocks the voltage to be able to go higher, and disable turboboost for more stable overclocks

20+ FPS is relevant in demanding titles.

I dunno about flashing a custom BIOS, but thanks for the link.

I probably won't mess with custom BIOS, but I'll try that today. Thanks for the info! So are the readings I posted fine? That spiking had me concerned.
