---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2x Days ago I put all the parts together and noticed when the heart races to do the first power up on the New Build PC I thankfully didn't get a big cloud of smoke. However, the MB goes through it's POST and after about 10 seconds shuts off. It then rests about 5 seconds and does the process all over again continual.

My steps of troubleshooting thus far:
•Removed all but 1 stick of RAM
•Removed the MB (wanted to see if it was touching anywhere, mystery screw under it, etc) and re-seated it
    •Began unplugging parts from MB
      •Video card Pulled
      •Mouse / Keyboard Pulled
      •All 3x HD's Pulled
      •Sound plug to MB pulled
•Now just 3x Case Fans & my h80 water cooler for processor are left in case plugged in, + some cables that plug in from the case to MB

I took out my Power Supply from the computer and brought it to Best Buy so they could test it for me (free). They said it looks good. I told the guy my issues I'm having and he suggested I pull the CMOS battery from the MB and try that. Else I got a bad MB.

What else do you guy suggest? My motherboard has these indicator lights by the RAM slots that are supposed to represent voltage (stress on processor) and at all times every single light on my MB is illuminated (representing heavy load). That's why I thought I was getting irregular voltage. The Geek Squad guy said I could have a bad Capacitor on my MB possibly.

I want to ask about the cords from the case that I plug into the computer (Power Switch, HDD Lights, etc). All the cables are white with the other wire being a variety of colors. White = Ground I hope. I've looked everywhere for a detailed explanation on this and never found one.

Also, I haven't popped out my processor. The thing is keyed when I gently set it in and verified that the lever is down and snapped in before I began the process of putting on the H80 water cooler. I'm thinking I don't need to worry about this as being a culprit?

I tried to be as detailed and organized as possible. I have yet to even get into the BIOS--Hell, I haven't even seen anything show up on the monitor yet (thinking it should have after 10 seconds). If my thoughts are correct, your computer won't reset if you have unplugged: video, and no HD's present? It should just idle with nothing to do correct?

I don't understand the need for z68 or 1000w psu

EDIT: Um have you set the boot order in the BIOS to your SSD after you installed your OS?

EDIT2: Wow that was a pointless amount of money for a z68 board where you get no benefit...ssd caching? You have one. H68 video? You have a dedicated gpu...should have just got a p67 for 150.

I'm probably going to SLI it and I'll need the Power Supply then.

I haven't even gotten to the point of seeing the BIOS. So nothing is setup up on the HDs.

The z68 I chose because it's the only MB out that has dual 16x PCI-E.

Regardless of all the opinions ppl are stating on my Hardware choices, keep them to yourself. If you care to assist with my issue, feel free to post.

Take a picture of your mobo and everything that is plugged into it. I have a pretty strong suspicion that something is wrong there.

Is this your first build?

No Video Card Present, No HD's Present etc in case and it still resets... Can't be a VC prob when it's not inserted? Also, there is a guy in the NewEgg Reviews that talks about SLI his 2x 580 VCs so it's compatable.

You would only cause problems if you fell below x8 x8 anyways.

It is one of two things...

Your cpu is not seated properly...bent pin...etc

or you dont have something correctly plugged in.

Post a picture of your mobo.
