What's your favourite style/era of Jazz music?
  • New Orleans - Early Jazz (1910s, e.g. Louis Armstong)
  • Swing & Big Band (‘20s-’30s, e.g. Count Basie, Duke Ellington)
  • Bebop and Cool - Small Bands (‘40s-’50s, e.g. John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis)
  • Fusion (60s-80s, e.g. Chick Corea, later Davis)
  • Other (Please Post)

Don't know which category your favourite artist fits into? Hit Other and post their name anyway.

I grew up right here just an hours drive from New Orleans and traveled there a lot before and after Katrina. So yea, my votes kinda partial due to knowing it so much better than any other kind. ^_^

Fusion uhhh I think?

Billy cobham - heather
Herbie hancock - headhunters
Donyld bird - essence
Grover Washington Jr. - Moonstreams
Miles Davis - mystery

Thats my shit..

Those songs were made in that so called fusion era. But none of them are really infused with funk or other genres really, except for the Miles davis doo bop album of course.

I voted other, as i hear a broad mix of jazz.

Miles Davis (He is mainstream, but this time it may for once, someone have deserved it...)
Herbie Hanock (Maiden Voyage, and his more recent albums)
I have heard a little Louis Armstrong.
Shining (Black-jazz, a very mixed fusion-genre)
Steely Dan, from their 70's and early 80's, thought it is Rock-jazz.
A new jazz-band, which i forgot the name of... It was some quiet, soothing still quite mellow, kind of jazz.
