What part of drawing on the history of the previous games was so hard to understand?
They have 20 years of lore to build on.

Lore will likely be killed once this goes online.. It's rich background is what the series is all about.
Making it online just to allow more kids to focus on personal builds as opposed to relating more to the story will turn the online version into a laughing stock.

Some series can adapt, some are strictly made to stay with its original lore. This is one such series, as is The Witcher games and a few other 'real' RPGs.
