Is there away to keep my act 2 merc from dieing to maiden?

Merc act2 and act5 ever die with iron maiden i think...

get him low dmg weapon and some DR

possible setup: voulge (whatever: infi / insight), eth gaze, eth shaft

kill the oblivion knights first so that they have no chance to cast it
have your merc wear low dmg weapon (just make a runeword in a basic pole arm)

yep, but since he has low lifesteal ull want to tele around and kill fast
else ur merc might stil die
