Lower Kurast Super Chests are bugged. They have a fixed amount of drops. The number of fixed drops is 65536. Everytime you loot a Super Chest, you get one of these 65536 drops, or as they are called, patterns. Atleast 81 of these patterns contains a rune of quality Pul or higher.

Think of it as a lottery, with the exception that you put the lottery ticket back in the stack everytime you draw one.

11 patterns contain a Pul Rune
9 patterns contain an Um Rune
15 patterns contain a Mal Rune
6 patterns contain an Ist Rune
13 patterns contain a Gul Rune
6 patterns contain a Vex Rune
5 patterns contain an Ohm Rune
2 patterns contain a Lo Rune
11 patterns contain a Sur Rune
3 patterns contain a Ber Rune

So, everytime you loot a Super Chest in Lower Kurast, you have a:

3/65536 chance of finding a Ber
11/65536 chance of finding a Sur
2/65536 chance of finding a Lo
5/65536 chance of finding an Ohm
6/65536 chance of finding a Vex
etc.

or a

81/65536 chance of finding a rune between Pul and Ber.

This might seem very low, but it's very high compared to other diablo 2 drop chances, especially of runes. Also, remember you have 6 chances every run.

Basically you're in a lottery with 81 wins out of 65536, every Lower Kurast run you make, you are given 6 tickets. But you are forces to give them back after looking at them (meaning the chance always stay the same, it's not improving).

This is why you can't do 200 runs and say LK sucks. Because your next five runs might still contain several High Runes.

EDIT: Oh, here's why they are called patterns. Do you see the similarites between the drops? This is "Sur #1". THESE ARE NOT MY SCREENS! Creds to runners thomh, Nepenthe and maxicek for screnshots!

It's not worth it since P Nova doesn't rely on FCR either. Also all my resistance are capped right now, except poison. Of course stacked is always nice but right now I desperately need the increased damage.

You are right with Death's Web, it's a goal as stated in the first post! :) And yup, it's crazy ass rare.

How many of those SCs would be on top quality builds in ladder? I'm sure your 400 scs aren't actually that good, but in a caster SP p8 run they'd be acceptable :P
