The difference is 40% life leech :p And the ability to leech off monsters that don't let you leech normally.

Fort would further add increased life gain due to more damage. I don't disagree with treachery though, with the ias and survivability boost.

No, because Treachery put's out more damage than Fortitude could ever do.

have any numbers to prove that or are we working from conjecture/disliking mainstream options?

45%ias will meet faster bps but 300% dmg increase is better if you don't break critical ias bps? I mean if we're talking crushing blow dmg, treachery every time. But if we have a big stick and don't expect to hit critical bps, I don't see how 300% more min/max dmg is not preferable. +chilling armor on a nice eth plate = a pretty viable option

treachery is mainstream among the theorists on this board :P

I'm all for under-dog equipment, but saying fort is a bad choice is an incorrect answer to me. It is the choice that your average bnet goer may make simply because duped runes are in abundance, so I can see how you'd want to suggest treachery over it just for that reason alone. And treachery is much cheaper and in terms of budget endurance, it's a great choice.

However I think running fort with other excellent gear is just as good, if not better.

In your average WT, treachery is your go to option. Realms/extended farming fort wins imho.

Hdins don't need an insight merc. Use redemption. Better to use a reapers toll and Andy's with ral or 15/30 fr jewel. Can use either treachery or fort it don't matter but treachery is way better and your merc will have more life leech just from attacking faster.

There's a reason for this. 300% isn't really 300% eather, ED only works like that in your weapon. ED in armor counts as skill ED.

Yes, Fortitude adds a damage increase. But it doesn't increase anything compared to Treachery. Faster IAS allows for more damage, more life leech and (if you've got it) more CB.

And if you want numbers on it, here's a thread: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=54233648

I'm not hating on Fortitude, it has it's uses, but for a merc in both offensive and defensive purposes Treachery is better. It's the same with CV's, they are the worst polearms, yet everyone wants them.

interesting break down. lot of it depends on decrip procing which basically means you have to run reapers toll. Both armors have their uses, for sure.

-- As for the OP concern..treachery is the way to go with reapers for max survivability.

I concede it's more useful in many situations. The thread which you probably didn't take time to read actually states that there are scenarios where Fort is better. Mostly in a melee situation fort will perform better, but most of the game's enemies use spells so being in a melee fight vs melee is less likely to occur.
