Always starts from one person getting mad,
and making a wall of nonsense text.
Never fails.

id say english is pretty easy to learn if you speak another germanic language

english grammar actually makes more sense to me than swedish

while it may be easy to learn the grammar if you already know a germanic language, learning all the idiosyncrasies and colloquial terms and how to use them properly is another thing.

For example, all of these words mean the same thing: big, huge, gargantuan, giant, humongous; however, they each carry a different colloquial meaning. Native english speakers (or very advanced non-native speakers) would be able to organize these by which is bigger, while a non-native speaker organizes them purely by the category of them all being adjectives that describe large nouns.

in brazilian portuguese (yeah, american english is not the only english) there is a fucking big variety of vocabulary and colloquial terms too
brazilians themselves cant understand to eachother when trying to speak to someone coming from a region too far away
the thing is: english is easier to learn (to be able to understand and be understood) than the languages i know
i'm in no position to argue about how hard mastering the true american english is as im still learning it, yet i'm discussing in english
but where`s my head at? im in a american forum!
