I have a little container of chopped garlic that I bought from the store to use for some meals and I have a question.

After opening this container (chopped garlic is wet btw) how long should I expect this garlic to be good for?

Quite a while, over a month for sure. Chopped garlic is preserved.

I would say throw it out after 6 weeks if you don't use it up in time, as well if it starts to discolour I would stop using it.

im guessing youre talking about the jarred garlic in water/oil? if you keep it in the fridge (which you should) itll keep for months. i think ive had them in there for even a year.

It is gonna turn slightly beige/brownish after a month or so, and will also lose its flavour more and more the longer you keep it.

It's a very convenient product, but it doesn't give dishes the same kick that fresh garlic does.

ive never had it turn brown. but yeah, the flavor isnt the same as fresh. ive switched to frozen cubes of garlic, those are just as convenient but have a MUCH nicer flavor.

although i do still like using the juice from the jarred stuff for marinades sometimes.

keeps some time depending on how it is treated, could be just water or also salt or even some chemical preservative
and always check where it is from, china exports a lot of garlic and the flavour is not very good (same for fresh garlic btw)

A month and a half to two months. It doesn't hold up to well after that.
