One of my pre-publicweekend builds is 2 handed sword duelist so for similar char your 2HS unique is great starter to level up fast. You know best option are rares but some uniqes can do job well for special or non cookie cutter builds.

Beta keys prices rise up on jsp from 100-175fgs to 500+fgs after public stress weekend so it looks like ppl rly enjoyed the game and want to back as fast as is possible ^^ I started game in february and tru that days i have received 2x friend beta key invites, i gave it ofc to mates. Ask some of your friends who have access and keep an eye on pm box on page so maybe they will be lucky with it.

You know Open Beta will come for ~2months so current Closed Beta gear, stash, char levels will be wiped, only charnames you can keep for Open Beta. Future Open Beta chars will be available for full release, so then real fun starts. I have asked around month ago one Dev about pvp and tvt, he answer that there will be 3v3 events for sure.

UPDATE: Note that we've changed the time to 3:30pm NZ time (which is 75 minutes after I'm doing this edit) because 0.9.8f is taking longer to prepare than predicted.

We're going to run a 90 minute private cut-throat test at 3:30pm NZ time today. I'll post the league password in this thread. Please post here to register your interest.

0.9.8f will be deployed beforehand to introduce some changes.

There will be a longer event tomorrow morning, NZ time. I'll post about that in the Beta Status forum.

Rules are:
- This is a separate short-duration league that has its own stash (as usual). At the end of the event, characters and stashed items will be moved to Default.
- There's a PvP damage multiplier on levels below 15 because players start with a lot more life than they do damage. This multiplier will be adjusted substantially based on feedback from this event and others.
- Players are hostile by default to players who are not in their party.
- You can ctrl+click on the entrance to an area to use the Instance Management screen to manually enter any other player's instance of an area.
- The maximum party size is still 6.
- Cut-throat instances can hold a maximum of 12 players. This means that a full party is not safe because another party can invade them.
- This test is not a hardcore league. When you die, you lose the normal experience penalty for your difficulty plus 10% of your current level. You also drop all inventory and equipped items. Your flasks, skill gems (even ones in your inventory) and quest items are not dropped.
- If you were killed by another player, your lost experience is awarded to them.
- If you attempt to abruptly leave the game in a non-town instance, you have to wait 5 seconds and are unable to move or use flasks.
- The grace period of invulnerability upon entering an area is 10 seconds. This should start once the player is mostly done loading.
- Non-partied players only show up on the map if they're nearby.
- When someone enters your area, it just says "Someone" has entered, not who they are.

Event was more like Ironman (but you are able to keel from start) cuz highest lvl was 14 ^^

Anyone who got access to closed beta can try Weekend Cut-throat Event

http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/28654

Quote
There will be a three-hour cut-throat event at 10am-1pm Sunday April 22 NZ time. Here is a timezone converter.

The first two tests went very well! We're excited about this next one.

This event is public, so there are no passwords and we're completely happy with you live-streaming it, etc.

It's a non-hardcore league (we'll be trying those later) and will move characters and items back to the default league afterwards.

The top players of each class ranked by experience will receive:

    #1: 3 Gemcutter's Prisms
    #2: 2 Gemcutter's Prisms
    #3: 1 Gemcutter's Prism

The top players of each class ranked by player-kills of unique accounts will receive:

    #1: 3 Gemcutter's Prisms and a Demigod's Presence (Unique Amulet)
    #2: 2 Gemcutter's Prisms
    #3: 1 Gemcutter's Prism

Note that player kills only measure people on different accounts. This means that you can't farm kills by killing your friend over and over, or getting your friend to create new characters. In the future, we'll have some rules in place to restrict players from ganking people who are far under their level.

Player kills count killing-blows only.

Rules are:

This is a separate short-duration league that has its own stash (as usual). At the end of the event, characters and stashed items will be moved to Default.

Non-partied players only show up on the map if they're nearby.
When someone enters your area, it just says "Someone" has entered, not who they are.

Start around ~6hours from now.

(28th April) Hardcore Cut-throat Event!

There will be a 90 minute hardcore cut-throat event at 10am-11.30am Sunday April 29 NZ time. Here is a timezone converter.

This event is public, so there are no passwords and we're completely happy with you live-streaming it, etc.

It's a hardcore league and will move characters and items back to the hardcore league afterwards.

The top players of each class (who are still alive at the end of the event) ranked by experience will receive:

    #1: 3 Gemcutter's Prisms and a Demigod's Presence (Unique Amulet)
    #2: 2 Gemcutter's Prisms
    #3: 1 Gemcutter's Prism

The top players overall (who are still alive at the end of the event) ranked by player-kills of unique accounts will receive:

Note that the above rules are the same as last week's event. We haven't modified cut-throat yet to take into account the feedback from last week. Testing a hardcore event like this one should be interesting though!
