*Note if you arent familiar with CM/WW Diablo 3 Wizard build feel free to look on youtube it is all over the place)
My apologies on the write up/video first time writing a guide :p
If this guide works well for everyone like i expect hopefully it will get stickied

By now I am sure all you wizard players have noticed that patch 1.0.4 seemed to of buffed every char in the game for more skill diversity EXCEPT for the wizard, the only buff we can count for the wizard is the Hydras a skill which is lackluster in my honest opinion.
A major nerf however was given to the wizard class the skill Energy Twister w/ Wicked Wind rune has been nerfed so that it would not critical hit as much 50% less actually (Energy Twister Proc coefficient reduced from 0.25 to 0.125). This skill was crucial to a majority of Wizard builds that used Critical Mass + Frost Nova + Explosive Blast(sometimes changed for another skill) + Energy twister. Which was a deadly button mashing combo that PERMA froze enemies and did some serious damage up close in personal.

I tested many builds changing skills up to replace the crit chance that we lost in this new patch from signature spells to hydra to blizzard and even meteor. I could not find anything to come close to the Classic Critical mass build many wizard were using.

This build is very similar to the classic CM/WW wizard build but this one definitely works better after the proc nerf on in 1.0.4

Heres why i use these skills (customization is up to you)

Right Click

Teleport (wormhole): Simply Put wizards run slow and instead of spending mass gold on getting run speed i can teleport multiple times to cover a short distance. I also use this to escape dangerous mobs if i have to regroup
*this skill can be interchangeable to whatever you like

Left Click
Energy Twister(Storm Chaser): Even when i dont see yellow crit hit i seem to be getting crit hits to reduce cooldowns along with Critical Mass. This is the new energy twister we use and i must say i like this one over the last even tho sometimes it curves the wrong way :]

Hotkey 1

Diamond Skin (Crystal Shell): Allows us to take more damage before the skin is broken from damage

Hotkey 2

Frost Nova (Deep Freeze): Gives us added crit chance when we hit 5 or more monsters and with the skill below(explosive blast) It will give u more chances to crit and get rid of cooldowns.

Hotkey 3

Explosive Blast( Chain Reaction *any rune works but i like this one best): While we stand in the MOB OF NIGGAS we can do extra damage along with Energy Twister

Hotkey 4

Energy Armor (Prismatic): Gives us that added resist and armor that helps us tank inside a MOB OF NIGGAS




Passives I Use: Only Critical Mass is required for this build change the passives to your pleasing

Critical Mass: a must to reduce cooldowns

Blur: Melee damage reduced by 20% which is great when ur in a MOB OF NIGGAS

Glass Cannon: 15% more damage but a loss of 10% armor, i like the extra damage to kill monsters faster (I do like to use galvanizing in place of this skill for rep life and longer armor durations)

How I buy gear:

Helm - int > ap on crit > crit % > res all > armor > socket
Amulet - int > crit % > crit dmg > base dmg > res all > armor > vit
Ring - int > asi > crit % > crit dmg > base dmg > res all > armor > loh > vit
Gloves - int > crit % > crit dmg > asi > res all > armor > vita
Boots - int > movespeed > res all > armor > vita
Weapon - life on hit > crit dmg/socket/dps > int > ap on crit
Source - base dmg > crit % > int > ap on crit
Chest/Pants/Shoulders/Belt - int > res all > max sockets > armor > vit > % life

im using a variant of this, frost hydra instead of nova as i dont have any apoc and piercing orb on main - i love the super tornado that goes off of my signature

that was another test i tried lol but the frost hydra didnt have enough range and hit too little monsters for me

What's like the reasonable budget to pull this off decently? My first char was a Wizard and I farmed act 1 so much back in the days with venom hydra / blizzard boring build. So I just got so sick of her. Never really played her for more than 2 months I think.

Maybe if I try this popular build, I may find some new motivation to play. Thanks.
