I'm not far in but I really like way of hundred fist for normal mob AoE attack, I switch to fists of thunder for single mobs with the thunderclap rune wich makes you teleport on short distances, great for moving to an enemy to another.
For spirit using technique lashing tail kick with vulture claw rune for increased dammage, great when you're surrounded. I sometime use the cyclone strike before using lashing tail to group ennemies togheter before sending them back out.
Maybe it's because of my poor gear, but I happen to come in near to daeth situations and since you're meleeing as a monk you take more hits, so i take the healing skill (since potion cooldown are so long), the circle of skorn rune adds some nice holy dammage.
Exploding palm is another great skill, use it when a big ennemy is about to die and it'll dammage all ennemy when it dies (if the spell is still active).
I have yet to use serenity, but I can see it's usefullness when you're sourrounded and about to die, definitly recommended for hardcore.
For passives I hopped through them all, the increased movement speed is nice, but I don't find it the best passive at start. Resolve can have it's uses, but I'm not too sure on it. Exalted soul is my personnal choice for the moment, it's nice to have a lot of backup spirit for when you're in trouble, helps a lot. Transcendence is what I would take if I would have more survivability problems.
I'm only level 16 so experiment on the later levels!
