mustangs run out of 4th around 125-130, if you push it 140

alot of 5 spd gear boxs can hit 140 in 4th because generally 5th gear (or 6th in the case of a 6 speed) is massive and made to be an overdrive gear to keep RPM's low on the freeway for good MPG's.

i could hit 120 in 4th in my 97 civic, but i couldn't hit 120 in 5th cuz it was just to big and the car didnt have enough power to turn that massive gear past like 110-115.



i bet that wasnt pretty, im picturing the rear wheels locking up and spinning out of control if u didnt hit the clutch quik enough after shifting into 3rd.

I actually pretty much instantley pushed the clutch back in, it felt like my car was squating down and getting ready to jump when it happend though. I drive a mustang gt.
