The product said apply behind the neck in between shoulder blades. I applied it slightly to the right of that "middle" spot. Will it still work?

As long as he/she cant lick it off its fine.
The reason why they tell you to put it right on top of the neck between the 2 bones is because they cant reach to lick there :)
