ok so i adopted a kitten back in late December when i moved out and got my own apartment. this kitten is the very first pet ive ever had. i never grew up with my own pets because my family had so many kids. i enjoy this kitten so much but i want a puppy as well. my kitten does get bored when i am gone (i work 60 hours a week) so i figured this would be a good way to get it a friend + they can grow up together.

now here is what i need help with when picking a dog

first i of course want a smaller dog (not too tiny but not even a medium size dog, i want it to grow into like a 30-35 lb dog at the most)
i dont want some dog that is going to constantly bark because id prefer to not have to tell my apartment complex about it and have to pay the outrageous pet fee
id also like a dog that i only need to walk 1-2 times a week if possible? like i said i dont have LOTS of time but i do have some time in between my 2 jobs and school to of course take care of it.

any recommendations on the type of puppy i should look for at adoption shelters?

Well a Pug is a good dog with other pets and is very loyal... he does need at least one walk a day .. when your gone he would be better in a crate in fact it is recommended since they are so loyal they get lonely but when in a crate they are very happy since the bread is set to live in caves.... they should not bark too much as long as u only put him in crate when your away.... but seriously a dog is a majorresponsability and if your not willing to walk it daily and do not have time to do so maybe get another cat ot help ur kitten

Dont get a dog if you cant walk it at least 7 times a week. A dog that doesn't get enough walks will get bored and chew things.

Cats are easy cause they just do everything themselves :p but a dog is a pack animal ( wants to live with others )

If you can manage the 1 walk a day then you have options :) Dont get a terrier they all bark like mad hehe. The 1st 2 suggestions would work too, Check my guide at the top of the page ( check post #3 too )

with your situation, I'd personally stick with one cat (maybe get another for company, opposite gender ((spay + neuter!)))

a dog would be too much for you to train, especially as a first timer with no assistance.
