I have never had a dog before, and I have been observing some really bizzare behavior from my gorgeous german shepherd pup. The only thing I'm really curious about right now is if a lot of dogs chew their nails. I've never seen it before kinda funny.

How old is your dog?

Can be a few things like allergies, Infection, Anxiety and even boredome, I suggest having a chat with your vet incase its an allergy or infection.

(young) puppies chew on almost everthing including their paws/claws
but better check if there is something stuck in the paw and if chewing on the paws/claws is obsessive see a vet

Yeah she is nine months old, so it's probably just a puppy thing. I do not have a vet, I am very poor at the moment. Okay here's another question.

I got this pup from a neglectful household, took her at about six months. She had fleas and was just weird acting around humans, obviously neglected/abused. I am almost positive she has not gotten any shots or whatever dogs need at a young age.

Where can I go to get these mandatory procedures done for an inexpensive cost? I do not have hundreds of dollars to spend, but I love this pup I can't give her away. Any suggestions not involving going to a vet?

Man if you care about the well being of this dog, just bite the bullet and go to the vet, especially if you don't know if she's had her shots as a (younger) puppy.

I hate to say it, but if don't have the capacity to care for this dog quite yet, maybe you're not ready to have a dog at this point in time.

depends where you live (from your profile i assume usa)
there must be an animal/dog rescue organisation you can contact and ask
(those organisations usually have vets working with them which might do the examination for free,
but you have to be prepared to pay for the medications/shots)

Good deal I was thinking about that. The shelter here in my city is supposed to be a really good one, I think I will give that a shot soon.

This is about the only financial issue I have with the pup. Somebody told me the shelter here in town could cut me a deal if I play my cards right. I'm going to give that a shot. If not I could give her to the shelter and have my girl adopt her after they shoot her up n everything right?
