the Burmese is too much even for me. I saw quite a few hognose at the last show I went to, good looking snakes. my hope is to breed the ij carpets I have and sell to buy a breeding pair of indigos.

yea, getting a burmese is definitely a pretty big commitment, alot of maintenance and can be dangerous if you're not experienced with handling larger size snakes. my next snakes i'm getting is gonna be a pair of Viper Boas. REALLY looking forward to getting them :)

here's a picture for anybody that don't know what the viper boa looks like...

thanks. looking to breed them soon. ive 3 females and 1 male. 2 females are 50% chance het. granite, meaning theres a chance i may get something similar to this:

The more unique a snake, the better it will sell. I work a fulltime 8-5 job, but picked this up as a hobby to hopefully make a few extra bucks.

Just an update. I started with a single male and 5 female (most were already pregnant, given to me by a fellow breeder and snake enthusiast).
I now have 15 mature (or near mature) mice with just as many juveniles and pinkies.

I currently keep a heating lamp about9-12 inches from the cage with my juveniles to help keep them warm, my local temp is around mid 40s to 50s right now. the others keep warm in the bedding and huddling. my goal is to get around 4 cages breeding and a larger cage that i plan to keep feeders.

current costs;
cages - $15/ea totaling $60
Bag of feed - $25. 40lb bag, i havent even put a dent in it yet.
Bag of pine shavings - $10 again, jumbo, no real use as of yet

Total cost so far is about $85.

To give an idea of the savings I'll have, I spend roughly $20 a week on mice feeding 4 adult snakes, and another $5 feeding to juvenile snakes. I've already begun feeding my younger snakes a pinky each week, and i still have enough reaching adulthood ready to breed.

Just a picture of one of my Irian Jaya Carpet pythons eating.
