I would also like to add - patience. If your team can keep you in your lane to farm constantly early game, your mid to late game will be amazing but you will not dominate early game like some champs can. However, a well played Ashe with good items is devastating - excellent in team-fights, a superb initiator and can smash down turrets/inhibs like no one's business.

Lol at farm until BF Sword.

There are many instances where you will need to get a pickaxe before BF Sword. Primarily if a teamfight is due to happen, cause of the other team having easy dragon kill at early levels (Think junglers like Shaco, who can do dragon quite early).

And zerker boots is the only way to go, Demi. If you need to go mercs or swiftness, your team isn't protecting you enough. You are a damage dealer, all of your items should be aimed towards being able to do most damage.
