IntroductionJarvan IV is a Demacian that'll kick your ass in lane, teamfights, and in bed.
Jarvan IV is an OP champion and is definitely one of the strongest tanky DPS out there.
Pros / ConsPros: ~ Very Solid Laning Champion
~ Incredible harass
~ Incredible farmer
~ Can 1v1 most champions if played correctly
~ Solid knock up
~ AoE Slow
~ Can get assists just from dropping Demacian Standard
~ Has a great chase / escape
~ Can rape with no attack items
~ Great ganker
Cons: ~ Ultimate can be detrimental to the team
~ Essential to team fights (You'll 90% be solo top unless jungling)
~ Not the most effective jungler
~ Low mana pool
~ Bound to get continuously nerfed
Summoner SpellsTake
Flash and
IgniteA very good option if you don't want flash.
GhostSpellsQ > E > W
W before E only if you are getting counter harassed very well (usually vs ranged)
Masteries
Take the 21 in offense since you can tank like a beast anyways.
I'm not sure why I take the point in ignite, just a force of habit. I guess I don't think anything else is worth it
RunesRed - Armor Pen
Red - Attack Speed (option)
Yellow - Armor
Yellow - Health per level (option)
Blue - Magic res flat and per level
Blue - Cooldown (option)

Quints - Health (option)
Quints - Movement speed (option)
Laning phaseYou shouldn't have much HP to start out with. Approx 500-550 HP (I start with 510)
Your spells aren't very strong very early so just farm. He is one of the best melee farmers in the entire game.
I usually go Q

E

Q because I play a very aggressive Jarvan and harass with Q.
By level 4, they are usually zoned because i can kill them with E

Q

Auto attack

Ignite
Keep zoning, deny them, harass, and farm.
Jarvan is very forgiving for overextending because of shield and E Q combo
ItemsCorePhilostone
Heart of Gold
Force of Nature
Merc Treads
Start with health regen pendant. Build that into philostone and get heart of gold.
After that, build situational for your lane/game. If you're laning against a singed, get negatron cloak. If laning against cait, get armor.
If you are zoning them so hard that you are getting virtually no harass, get Phage

Bloodthirster
If you noticed, I don't like sunfire cape on Jarvan. I don't think it gives enough armor/utility compared to the other items
Team fightingIt is best that you follow up an initiation during a 5 v 5 team fight.
If the enemy gets caught (Ashe arrow, Blitz grab, random stun, etc) the natural reaction is to save or go in and fight.
The enemy will cluster and this is perfect for your E Q combo + W. The carry will instinctively flash/escape away and you can demacia on the carry and take them out of the fight.
Your main job is to take the enemy carries out (either run them away or kill them) so that your carry can melt them away.
But if no one on your team can protect your carry, it might be the better choice to protect your carry.
Just have situational awareness.
