Backstory
Singed descended from a long line of Zaun's revered chemists. Even in his youth, his talent for concocting potions far outstripped that of his peers, and he quickly distinguished himself from his less extraordinary chemist compatriots. It came as no surprise to anyone when he was selected for apprenticeship by the infamous Warwick, master apothecary on a lucrative retainer with the Noxian military during their campaign against Ionia. Within Warwick's laboratories, Singed toiled without end, rapidly absorbing every detail of his predecessor's deadly craft. Singed had little concern for the death and destruction that was the fruit of his labors. By the time the curse of lycanthropy descended to claim his master, Singed was poised and eager to make the transition from workhorse to innovator; he was ready to share his genius by bringing a new brand of suffering to the Ionian front. His zeal for progress was unquenchable, and when suitable test subjects proved to be in short supply, the eager chemist was often thought to turn his volatile mixtures on his own flesh.
When the uneasy peace created by the League of Legends settled on the world, Singed journeyed to the one place where he was still able to showcase his beloved craft: the Institute of War. By this time he was barely even a man, his body both ruined and sustained by his ingenious craft. A thousand burns - accidents of shadow and flame - mar his ravaged form, and exposure to such harsh conditions has deadened his nerves, hardened his body, and strengthened his physique, transforming him into a veritable juggernaut. This, combined with a formidable arsenal of deadly concoctions, make Singed a force to be reckoned with on the Fields of Justice.


Why play singed?
Singed is a great alternative to shen, amumu, malphite and rammus. The four most common tank bans in ranked. He has good cc, hes above average in pushing/farming lanes. his damage is above average for a tank and hes great at chasing/escaping. Although I would like to warn the reader before getting into the meat of the guide. singed doesn't play like most tanks. He doesn't always start out a fight running out of a bush full throttle with a huge aoe/cc ult. He thrives off long drawn out chases and team fights. He thrives off throwing the opposing teams threats out of position to be eaten alive by your team. your k/d score isn't everything when playing singed. Hes a high assist and sometimes high death champion, so dont be discouraged if you end a game 4-7-18 so long as you win. This isn't to say singed can't become extremely fed and carry (not the conventional "carry." What I mean is that you disrupt the enemy team and become so difficult to kill that your team couldn't lose if they tried.)


Summoner spells

Recommended summoner spells on Singed
Exhaust - Helps get enemies into fling range and prevents them from escaping. Overall VERY useful for shutting down opposing carrys for a few seconds.
Ghost - Movement speed is very useful on singed making ghost almost a must have on him. helps land flings, get ahead of enemies for poison trail and generally good for chasing/escaping.
Cleanse - Prevents singed from getting pinned down and keeps him moving. Very important that singed stays mobile.

Mediocre spells on Singed
Flash - Inferior to ghost on singed. would help land flings, but it doesn't leave a trail of poison on the way. A longer duration speed buff simply outclasses this otherwise powerful spell.
Ignite - Might just be the extra damage you need for a kill or two. Worth bringing against specific champs to counter healing.
Teleport - Gets you back into lane and give you some global mobility. An option on just about every champ. probably wouldn't bring this on Singed though.
Fortify - If you fling them into a tower this could be a good combo with fling. Useful if you don't already have a fortify, but its not ideal.

Bad spells on Singed
Smite - Unless your jungling this is a huge no.
Heal - Decent in early game fights. Thats about it.
Clarity - You shouldn't be needing this. It could help you during levels 1-7, but besides that. Wouldn't even be upgraded because of our masteries.
Revive - Fuck No.
Rally - No.
Clairvoyance - Not useless, but because of masteries it wouldn't even be upgraded. Tell ur support to pick it up if you want it on your team.

Masteries and Runes



Masteries
My masteries are 9-21-0. Getting upgraded exhaust and magic pen in offense. Going all the way to tenacity (21) in defense.

Runes
Magic pen marks
Health per level seals
Mana regen per level glyphs
Movement speed quins


Spell order and spells explained

Empowered Bulwark (Innate): Increases Singed's health by 2.5 for each 10 points of mana he has. This makes any item that provides mana more appealing. Which I will cover in the items section of this guide.

Poison Trail (Toggle): Leaves a trail of poison behind Singed, dealing magic damage to enemies caught in the path, lingering for 5 seconds. This spell is where singed gets most of his damage. It has amazing synergy with rylais crystal scepter. Once you have that item it becomes much harder to escape or chase singed. This spell deals its damage over a long period of time. Most of your kills with singed will involve chasing an opponent down the lane flinging him into your poison trail and team members while tanking their damage and laying out mega adhesive to keep them from escaping your auto attack and poison. Level this as quickly as possible.

Mega Adhesive (Active): Throws a vial of mega adhesive on the ground causing all enemies who touch it to be slowed as long as they are in the adhesive and for 1 second once they are out of it. This spell helps greatly in landing your fling. Great for sealing off narrow choke points across summoners rift preventing enemies from escaping or ensuring your own escape. try laying this out from a bush during the laning phase giving them the least possible reaction time. Put a point into this at level 3 or 4 then start leveling this again at the end game.

Fling (Active): Flips an enemy behind Singed, dealing magic damage to it. One of Singed's best spells. Flinging opponents out of proper position can ensure a quick death if your team is nearby. This spell makes singed a great team player. Helping get other players and himself easy kills. This spell also makes singed more threatening during long chases. It takes an opponent what feels like a lifetime to get back to their tower when you combine this with mega adhesive, poison trail and rylais crystal scepter. Max this next after your poison trail

Insanity Potion (Active): Singed drinks a potent brew of chemicals, granting him a flat increase to these combat stats: damage, attack speed %, ability power, armor, movement speed, health regeneration per 5 and mana regeneration per 5 for 25 seconds. This spells uses are obvious. Use when your chasing an opponent, being chased, pushing turrets and team fights. A very powerful spell with plenty of versatility. Makes singed do more damage with his spells and basic attacks, makes him better at chasing, escaping and absorbing damage for your team. Put a point into this whenever you can.

Items Discussed
There are many options for singed as far as items are concerned. His innate makes items that provide mana more appealing. I'll be going over his options because there are so many. Instead of recommending a single 6 item build. Usually I'll build boots, catalyst, rylais crystal scepter, finish banshees or go for a late rod of ages if theres nobody to build banshees against and situational from there.

Starting item - Mana crystal and two health pots.
Boots - Boots of swiftness are your main option. Grab mercury treads instead if the opposing team is heavy on cc. Singed has to stay mobile.
Rylais crystal scepter - This item is a must have on singed. Absolute MUST have. Its far too good with his poison trail to pass up.
Catalyst the protecter - amazing for laning and can be built into two great items.
Rod of ages - A great item on singed, but its difficult to fit into my build. Because its less effective unless you build it first I usually pass it up. Getting rylais as soon as possible has paid off for me too much to build RoA first.
Banshee's veil - Great item on singed. give him tons of health, magic resist and a neat ability.
Sunfire cape - Health, armor and additional damage. singed is a close and personal champion who spends rather long periods of time near opposing champs. He takes advantage of that 40 damage a second because of this.
Abyssal scepter - Gives Singed more damage and magic resist. Its passive will effect all his skills because of his close and personal style. very good item on him depending on the opposing team comp and items.
Force of nature - Good vs ap heavy teams when banshees just isn't enough.
Frozen heart - Good vs ad heavy teams and because it provides mana it also provides health. If your support hasn't already picked this up its worth grabbing. Sometimes superior to sunfire cape depending on the opposing team comp.
Archangels staff - Adds a large amount of damage and health depending on your build. Depending on what your buying you might want to pick this up.
Guardian angel - Sometimes a good item to round out a build late game. Worth mentioning.

What to do early, mid and late game.
Early game - You will probably be going bottom with a partner. Your looking for someone who can take advantage of your flings to lane with. Xin Xhao is a good example of a strong laning partner for singed. Try hogging the bushes and don't worry too much about farming. Usually trying to last hit every creep you can as singed will get you harassed too much. Leaving you with too little health to try scoring a kill on the opposing lane. When creeps are walking forward unopposed its okay to lay a trail of poison ahead of them to pick up a creep or two. exhaust, ghost, mega adhesive and your ult are your primary ways of getting into fling range. once you land a fling its up to your partner and you to capitolize. Pick your moments carefully. He doesn't have enough mana to spam his spells or keep his poison trail on constantly. Don't be afraid to fling near turrets either. You would be suprised how many great flings you can get near turret range because your opponent is in a false sense of security. Only taking 0-2 tower shots for a kill. Singed can solo a lane early game but be careful. Experienced players can zone him pretty well and deny him creeps/exp.

Mid and late game - You should farm and push lanes. Try pushing lanes as often as possible, dipping from the lanes to attend important fights. You should be one of the first into the fight. Find opposing threats and fling them out of position. Keep your poison trail on as many targets as possible and mega adhesive anyone trying to escape or pursue your team. Sometimes saving your fling for channel ults such as miss fortune or katarina is recommended. Your fling can also help team members escape by flipping enemies off them. If you can get the opposing team to chase you take advantage of that. Bait them into jungle ganks and keep poison trail on them. Singed is an amazing champ when on the run. Dealing tons of damage over long periods of time. If you think you can score a kill chasing an enemy for an extended period of time safely do so. Just make sure that your opponents are accounted for. You don't want to be lead into a jungle ambush. If you see a chance to pick up a turret go for it. Activating your ult to ensure you have the attack speed and damage to take it out quickly is recommended. It can also ensure escape afterwards with its increased movement, armor and long duration.



Tips and tricks!
Use fling to fling jarvan out of his own ult forcing him to cancel if he wants to get back to you!
When two singed fling each other at the same time they essentially trade positions!
Banshees veil is very gay for you. Nothing pops its passive except your fling, so wait for an ally to pop it for you.
You can use fling as a defensive tool to save team members from your enemies.
Fling can be used to cancel channel spells.
Poorly positioned flings can save enemies. DO NOT DO THIS!
Singed is more dangerous around towers because of his fling.

Jungle Singed.

It is possible and I'm here to teach you how. I've done it twice in practice games, but never in a real game. Its risky and honestly, not very viable.
Masteries are 0-21-9. Make sure to get exp mastery, upgraded ghost and extended buff duration.
Smite and ghost are your summoner spells for jungle Singed.
Your runes are the following.....

armor pen marks
Flat armor seals
Whatever you want
Flat health quins

Jungle pattern

Start the game off with an elixer of fortitude and 6 health pots. Put a point into your poison trail and head to blue golem buff . Have your scouts at each of your
blind spots to watch for early ganks. You have to position Singed in order to hit both little golems and big golem with your poison trail. Drink your elixer, begin to
auto attack the golem, drink a health pot and start flicking on and off your poison trail to conserve mana. From this point on keep drinking health pots periodically to keep your health up throughout the jungle.
Use smite to finish the golem picking up a point in fling, then head to wolf camp. Position yourself for poison trail then start auto attackin and flicking your poison trail. You can
kite the wolves a bit to save yourself a couple points of damage at the end. Next go to banshees. Position, attack, flick your q skill and keep the health pots going. Put another point in poison after this camp.
Take a break and drink an entire health potion before starting lizard buff. Position yourself, flick your q skill, use fling a few times on this camp, finish off with smite and head to little golems. This
Will be a close call. Use fling and poison to kite them a bit. Auto attack them a bit and go back afterwards picking up a point in mega adhesive. level 4 at 4:30. from here you can start to free jungle and gank.

I decided to play some games with singed and screenshot the results to show a few average games on him. I also included my ranked stats on singed.

personally i go 0/22/8 or 0/21/9 masteries like every high elo singed players

i also recommend dodge runes on him, the nimbleness mastery+dodge
works so great on him

swift boots sux on singed when he's already the fastest champ with ulti+ghost
i always get mercs, if they really have 0 cc, i'd get ninja tabis

all preference. dodge runes sounds pretty good on him as seals. 9 in utility is also very viable and tempting. upgraded ghost and moar manas. I like the magic pen, upgraded exhaust and cooldowns more tho.

ghost is so popular you can almost count on the other team having at least 2 champs with it. If any champ needed boots of swiftness it would be singed. Catch them sooner and catch them more often. would only get tabi if like.. Nearly the entire team was melee and they didn't have enough cc for treads.
