Poppy, The Anti Carry Guide
There are many points and such i want to cover in this guide. It therefor will be very long, detailed, and wordy. Poppy is one of the hardest hitting and heaviest potential single target burst champions in the game, contrary to popular belief. She has the ability to zone in on one person and utterly destroy that one person, my guide will show you how to make the most of her game breaking 1v1 domination.
First off lets start with
Background:While other young yordle girls played skip-step and braided wreathes out of posies, Poppy spent her youth earning calluses and grease stains in her father's armor shop. Blomgrun, her father, was Bandle City's finest smith. The only thing he loved as much as his work was his young daughter, Poppy - named for the sprightly sounds of the sparks that leapt from his ever-burning forge. He welled with pride the day she was first able to lift his trusty hammer, Whomper. Poppy immediately took to his art, demonstrating a natural gift for smithing which Blomgrun honed with devoted instruction.
One day, a Demacian general named Florin Berell commissioned Blomgrun to craft a helm, glorious beyond comparison. Blomgrun toiled away on this project, determined to present Florin with his finest work. He let Poppy set the center jewel, entrusting her with the most important piece. When the pair finished, they departed for Demacia to deliver it in person. Word of the general's order, however, was leaked to the Noxian High Command, and two Noxian assassins were dispatched to intercept the delivery. Blomgrun was able to occupy the assassins long enough for Poppy to escape with the prized helm. She watched helplessly from the brush as her father was slain. Instead of fleeing home, she carried the helm the rest of the way to Demacia alone. She refused payment for it, saying that no amount would compensate for her father's life. Instead, she offered it as a gift, honoring her father's final intentions. Florin saw the grim determination behind the tears in her eyes, and requested that the leadership of Bandle City appoint Poppy as the yordle ambassador to Demacia. Soon after, seeking to crush Noxus with her father's hammer, Poppy volunteered for the League of Legends.
Poppy may be small, but Whomper - or her will - is not.

Summoner Skills:This can be very much a fit the player and their playstyle part, but i will tell you my choices, and you can do your own thing from that. I personally main with these two skills:
Ghost: Your Champion ignores unit collision and moves 27% faster for 14 seconds.
Exhaust: Reduces a target's Attack Damage by 70%, Ability/Item damage by 35% and slows its Movement Speed by 40% for 3 seconds. 550 Range
I use these two mainly for the main three reasons of, i want to stay on my target, i want to get away from somebody, or i need to quickly get in a position to Heroic Charge and stun my target.
Other Viable Spells are:
Ignite: Ignite is a damage over time spell that targets a single champion dealing 50 true damage plus 20 true damage per level over 5 seconds. This damage is not lowered by armor or magic resistance. Also reduces the target’s healing and regeneration by 50%. 600 Range.
Note: Poppy's ultimate increases the damage of Ignite
Flash: Teleports your Champion to target nearby location under your mouse cursor. 475 Range.
These are also viable due to Ignite being affected by Poppy's ultimate, and Flash can quickly allow you to get a position to Heroic Charge as well, as well as get out of harms way quickly in conjunction with Paragon of Demacia. In A lot of ways, this can be better then Ghost.
Champion Skills:Passive:Valiant Fighter: (Innate): Any damage dealt to Poppy that exceeds 10% of her current health is reduced by 50%. This does not reduce damage from structures.
Devastating Blow:(Q) Poppy crushes her opponent, dealing physical attack damage as well as a flat amount and 8% of the target's max health as magic damage. The magic damage based on 8% of the target's max health cannot exceed a threshold based on rank.

* Base Cooldown: 8/7/6/5/4 seconds
* Magic Damage: 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+0.6 per ability power)
* Threshold: 75 / 150 / 225 / 300 / 375
Paragon of Demacia:(W) (Passive): Upon being hit or attacking an enemy, Poppy's armor and damage are increased for 5 seconds. This effect can stack 10 times.
(Active): Poppy gains max stacks of Paragon of Demacia and her movement speed is increased for 5 seconds.
* Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 Mana
* Armor & Damage: 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 per stack
* Movement Speed: 17 / 19 / 21 / 23 / 25 %
Heroic Charge:(E) Poppy charges at an enemy and carries them further. The initial impact deals a small amount of magic damage, and if they collide with terrain, her target will take a high amount of magic damage and be stunned for 1.5 seconds.
* Range: 525
* Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds
* Cost: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 Mana
* Magic Damage:50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+0.4 per ability power)
* Collision Magic Damage: 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+0.4 per ability power)
Diplomatic Immunity:(R) Poppy focuses intensely on a single target for 6/7/8 seconds, dealing increased damage to them, and becoming immune to any damage and abilities from enemies other than her target. Damage increase applies to summoner spells and items used by Poppy.

You want Heroic Charge first, so as to setup an early ability to do over 100 damage with a 1.5 stun, at level 1 that's massive. Second with Devastating Blow cause its your main damage dealer, and still does good damage at low levels. Next Paragon for two reasons, one; it gives you a minor speed boost if you need to get in or out of battle. And two; it give u a bonus to defense and attack damage so it will allow you to last hit creeps better as well as take less in a fight against AD champs. After you get your three basic skills, level Devastating blow first since its your main damage dealer, second Heroic Charge and last Paragon Of Demacia since it will mainly be used for the run speed only past creep farming. Get Diplomatic Immunity every chance you get (6/11/16)
Items:The items are absolutely key to making Poppy a destroyer of anybody who dares 1v1 her. I will give a base item setup, that will be necessary for any Poppy anti carry, but you must understand that you need to build to counter your opposing team, or compliment your own team.
Sorcerer's Shoes: +20 Magic Penetration, Enhanced Movement 2
Sheen: +250 Mana, +25 Ability Power, Passive UNIQUE: Every time you use an ability, your next physical attack deals 100% extra base damage. Cooldown 2 seconds.
Deathfire Grasp: +60 Ability Power, +10 Mana Regen/5 sec, Passive UNIQUE: 15% Cooldown Reduction, Active UNIQUE: Deals magic damage to target champion equal to 30% of their current health (+3.5% per 100 Ability Power) with a minimum of 200 damage. 1 minute Cooldown.
Upgrade!

Lich Bane: +350 Mana, +80 Ability Power, +30 Magic Resistance, +7% Movement Speed, Passive UNIQUE - When you use an ability, your next physical attack deals an additional 100% of your Ability Power in damage. This effect has a 2 second Cooldown.
Situational Items:From here, its situational. Situational doesn't mean you don't need any of these items (unless they're surrendering at 25 mins), its just mean pick the correct item for the situation. I cant tell you specific item to get for her in all cases, but i can show you whats available.
Against Heavy AP damage: Try a
Banshees veil: +375 Health, +375 Mana, +50 Magic Resistance, UNIQUE - Blocks one negative spell every 30 seconds.
Against Heavy AD damage: Try a
Randuins Omen: +300 Health, +80 Armor, + 25 Health Regen/5 sec., UNIQUE - 8% Cooldown Reduction and 20% chance on being hit to slow the attacker's movement and attack speed by 35% for 3 seconds, UNIQUE - Slows movement speed and attack speed of surrounding units by 35% for 2 second + 0.5 seconds for each 100 Armor and Magic Resist. 60 second Cooldown.
If you got the above and simply need more HP: Try a
Road of Ages is your best bet if you can tell the game will be going on for a bit longer: +450 Health, +525 Mana, +60 Ability Power, Passive: Your Champion gains 18 Health, 20 Mana, and 2 Ability Power every 1 min. Bonuses cap at +180 Health, +200 Mana, and +20 Ability Power. (Total stats at Cap: 630 HP, 725 Mana, 80 AP)
If you need more AP: Try a
Rabadon's Deathcap: +155 Ability Power, Passive UNIQUE: Increases Ability Power by 30%.
(Note: This item is to be obtained near the end of the game to boost both your Deathfire grasp % damage, as well as flat damage to both Devastating Blow and Heroic Charge. Don't rush this if you're getting focused and need to get HP from some of the other situational items first)
Three items of Note:Sunfire Cape: Not ideal for Poppy, since the AOE damage isn't really utilized with Poppy, but it can increase her horrid ability to farm. +45 Armor, +450 Health, UNIQUE: Deals 40 Magic Damage a second to nearby enemies.
Hextech Gunblade: If you really want some HP regen through Life Steal and Spell Vamp, Hextech Gunblade is a possible choice since it gives both. Although with this guide, we focus more on her Magic damage, and not her as a hybrid. But if you want to take more of a Hybrid approach, this is possible. +60 Attack Damage, +75 Ability Power, +20% Life Steal, +20% Spell Vamp, UNIQUE: Deals 300 magic damage and slows the target champion by 50% for 3 seconds (700 range). 60 second Cooldown.
Will of the Ancients: If you're team is Caster heavy, and you want some Spell Vamp, this item can be viable. +20% Spell Vamp. +50 AP, UNIQUE Aura: Gives nearby allied champions +30 AP and +20% Spell Vamp.
Note: Spell vamp in my opinion isn't all that useful to Poppy, i recommend just getting more HP or AP rather then Spell vamp.
How to utilize her Skills and Items:You're going to want to find your target, position yourself, and engage. Proper positioning is as shown:

The plan of attack is to get in position to Heroic Charge your target, select them and use your ultimate. Your ultimate increase all your damage to that target by 20%/30%/40% (depending on level 6/11/16), that include damage from Deathfire Grasp, and Ignite as well. Once you're in position and ultimate, you need to immediately Deathfire Grasp, followed by a very quick Heroic Charge into a wall which will stun them, them immediately, followed by a Devastating Blow. With Lich Bane proccing as well your target should be dead or incredibly close to it. One thing to note is make sure you get your Deathfire Grasp i quick so that their positioning doesnt change much and you can still get in your Heroic Charge for the stun. If you wait to long into the chain of attacks to Deathfire Grasp them, the damage will be far less do to the fact it does a percentage of their current life as damage. Whereas the rest of her abilities are flat damage or based off their full HP. Popping your Paragon of Demacia when you ultimate can help you keep positioning on the target.
