If you haven't played DoTA, HoN may be extremely enjoyable to you. They currently have a free week this week if you want to try it out, it's until August Ninth, which is coming soon.
LoL is much more fun. There isn't any argument about that. But HoN is a lot deeper. It's more complex, it's more difficult. LoL is said to be a "Carebear" version of DoTA style games. I didn't believe that until I played HoN myself. It really is a lot more difficult. It's way more competitive, a LOT more competitive. People rage hardcore in HoN, it's outrageous.
If you're looking for something fun to do on friday nights, LoL is probably much more suited towards you.
HoN takes a lot of practice. It's a lot more complex, competitive and all that jazz If you're looking for something deeper, it may be for you. If you've played DoTA, however, it will probably feel old and stale.
Go try out HoN for yourself, I mean it's free right now why not.
