Hockeygod9911's Anti Carry Poppy guide!




There are many points and such i want to cover in this guide. It therefor will be very long, detailed, and wordy. Poppy is one of the hardest hitting and heaviest potential burst champions in the game, contrary to popular belief. She has the ability to zone in on one person and utterly destroy that one person, my guide will show you how to make the most of her game breaking 1v1 domination.

First off lets start with

Runes:

9x Greater Mark of Insight (Mag Pen)
9x Greater Seal of Vitality (Hp/lvl)
9x Greater glyph of Focus (CDR)
3x Greater Quintessence of Fortitude (Flat HP)

Masteries:




9/0/21


Offensive:

1/1 Cripple
3/3 Archmage's Savvy
4/4 Sorcery
1/1 Archaic Knowledge


Utility

1/1 Haste
3/3 Perseverence
4/4 Awareness
1/1 Greed
3/3 Meditation
2/2 Utility Mastery
3/3 Quickness
3/3 Intelligence
1/1 Presence of the Master


Summoner Skills:

This can be very much a fit the player and their playstyle part, but i will tell you my choices, and you can do your own thing from that. I personally main with these two skills:

Ghost: Your Champion ignores unit collision and moves 27% faster for 14 seconds.

Exhaust: Reduces a target's Attack Damage by 70%, Ability/Item damage by 35% and slows its Movement Speed by 40% for 3 seconds. 550 Range

I use these two mainly for the main three reasons of, i want to stay on my target, i want to get away from somebody, or i need to quickly get in a position to Heroic Charge and stun my target.

Other Viable Spells are:

Ignite: Ignite is a damage over time spell that targets a single champion dealing 50 true damage plus 20 true damage per level over 5 seconds. This damage is not lowered by armor or magic resistance. Also reduces the target’s healing and regeneration by 50%. 600 Range.
Note: Poppy's ultimate increases the damage of Ignite

Flash: Teleports your Champion to target nearby location under your mouse cursor. 475 Range.

These are also viable due to Ignite being affected by Poppy's ultimate, and Flash can quickly allow you to get a position to Heroic Charge as well. In Alot of ways, this can be better then Ghost.

Champion Skills:

Passive:
Valiant Fighter: (Innate): Any damage dealt to Poppy that exceeds 10% of her current health is reduced by 50%. This does not reduce damage from structures.

Devastating Blows:(Q) Poppy crushes her opponent, dealing physical attack damage as well as a flat amount and 8% of the target's max health as magic damage. The magic damage based on 8% of the target's max health cannot exceed a threshold based on rank.

* Mana Cost:55 Mana
* Base cooldown: 8/7/6/5/4 seconds
* Magic Damage: 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+0.6 per ability power)
* Threshold: 75 / 150 / 225 / 300 / 375

Paragon of Demacia:(W) (Passive): Upon being hit or attacking an enemy, Poppy's armor and damage are increased for 5 seconds. This effect can stack 10 times.
(Active): Poppy gains max stacks of Paragon of Demacia and her movement speed is increased for 5 seconds.

* Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 Mana
* Armor & Damage: 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 per stack
* Movement Speed: 17 / 19 / 21 / 23 / 25 %

Heroic Charge:(E) Poppy charges at an enemy and carries them further. The initial impact deals a small amount of magic damage, and if they collide with terrain, her target will take a high amount of magic damage and be stunned for 1.5 seconds.

* Range: 525
* Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds
* Cost: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 Mana
* Magic Damage:50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+0.4 per ability power)
* Collision Magic Damage: 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+0.4 per ability power)

Diplomatic Immunity:(R) Poppy focuses intensely on a single target for 6/7/8 seconds, dealing increased damage to them, and becoming immune to any damage and abilities from enemies other than her target. Damage increase applies to summoner spells and items used by Poppy.

* Cost: 100 Mana
* Range: 900
* Cooldown: 140 / 120 / 100 seconds
* Duration: 6 / 7 / 8 seconds
* Increased Damage:20% / 30% / 40 %

How to Utilize her Skills and Items:

You're going to want to find your target, position yourself, and engage. Proper positioning is as shown:



Before we get into what skills to use, and when, i need to get into Items. The items are absolutely key to making Poppy a destroyer of anybody who dares 1v1 her. I will give a base item setup, that will be necessary for any Poppy anti carry, but you must understand that you need to build to counter your opposing team, or compliment your own team.

Items:

Sorcerer's Shoes: +20 Magic Penetration, Enhanced Movement 2

Sheen: +250 Mana, +25 Ability Power, Passive UNIQUE: Every time you use an ability, your next physical attack deals 100% extra base damage. Cooldown 2 seconds.

Deathfire Grasp: +60 Ability Power, +10 Mana Regen/5 sec, Passive UNIQUE: 15% Cooldown Reduction, Active UNIQUE: Deals magic damage to target champion equal to 30% of their current health (+3.5% per 100 Ability Power) with a minimum of 200 damage. 1 minute cooldown.

Upgrade!
Sheen --> Lich Bane: +350 Mana, +80 Ability Power, +30 Magic Resistance, +7% Movement Speed, Passive UNIQUE - When you use an ability, your next physical attack deals an additional 100% of your Ability Power in damage. This effect has a 2 second cooldown.

Rabadon's Deathcap: +155 Ability Power, Passive UNIQUE: Increases Ability Power by 30%.

From here, its situational. You can go with a banshees veil if there's alot of Magic dmg on the other side, and crowd control and you're having trouble with getting your kills. You can grab a Sunfire Cape or Randuin's Omen if you need HP and Armor. Finally, if you're doing ok, Rylai's Scepter and/or Rod of Ages arent bad, nor is a hextech gunblade.

Now back to the Utilization of her abilties.

The plan of attack is to get in position to Heroic Charge your target, select them and use your ultimate. Your ultimate increase all your damage to that target by 20%/30%/40% (depending on level 6/11/16), that include damage from Deathfire Grasp, and Ignite as well. Once you're in position and ultimate, you need to immediately Deathfire Grasp, followed by a very quick Heroic Charge into a wall which will stun them, them immediately, followed by a Devastating Blow. With Lich Bane proccing as well your target should be dead or incredibly close to it. One thing to note is make sure you get your Deathfire Grasp i quick so that their positioning doesnt change much and you can still get in your Heroic Charge for the stun. If you wait to long into the chain of atks to Deathfire Grasp them, the damage will be far less do to the fact it does a percentage of their current life as damage. Whereas the rest of her abilities are flat damage or based off their full HP. Popping your Paragon of Demacia when you ultimate can help you keep positioning on the target.

TL;DR version of her attacks

Get in position
Pop Paragon of Demacia
Pop Diplomatic Immunity
Use Deathfire Grasp
Heroic Charge them into a wall
Devastating Blow
Lich Bane will proc automatically during the fight.
???

Not so long imo, normal lenght :P

Anyway I havent played Poppy much, should play her more tbh.

I'm reading but getting nowhere. She's a terrible farmer and when you consider Rabadons+Lichbane before any health/survivability items, you got a while to go.

Unless you're dealing with a melee carry that has small-medium health, I don't see this going very far.

ZOMG my DFG was on key number 2, FAIL!

also, ult before u do any dmging atks, all her atks are nukes and should be boosted by her ult**

consider i dont say u need to get rabadons 4th, i just said those are 4 items i should get, rabadons is a late game, after other items, like the posted situational items. I only post 4 items if u notice, ur supposed to insert the situational items as needed into those spots. All items are always situational, thats common sense, items are the least viable GUIDE able thing, considering that fact. Hence i only posted 4, as a baseline.
