When I was little I was forced to go to church on Sundays with my family. In high school I stopped going because I didn't enjoy it. I wasn't getting thing out of it. I still don't go to church because I don't feel the need to go if I don't view it as a helpful concept. I understand that it I don't go to mass I won't receive the host, but what does that really even mean? I talked to my former priest and he told me I wouldn't go to hell if I didn't go to church.

Is it more of a thing you do because you like it? You feel better about your week when you go? I wish I felt like that afterward, but it's never been like that for me.

once i came to the church, i asked myself, wtf am i doin here, and so far it was my last visit there, not that i dont belive in god, but its pointless for me to stand there for an hour and get nothing out of it

The place isn't important, it's the people. Church = people. Whether your church is in your home, at McDonalds, your friends basement, it can be a ministry. The key thing is that when people say "is church necessary", what they are really asking is do they need to worship with others, and the answer is yes. Christ and his apostles did not only stay at home and worship God alone, by themselves, they did so with others in addition to the private worship and thanksgiving.

in Poland where i live, the only people who visit churches are elders, lets say 65+
i dont enjoy these people, they are mean, they smell bad, and they came to the church cause they feel like dieing soon
funny thing is that 90% of our community declares themselves as christians
beside there is nothing to thank god for, i live in a poor shithole, earnings are horrible, and even in a summertime, [which is now] we have 15 degrees outside :wallbash:

Thank God for the fact that eternal life has been given to those who follow Jesus. Is that not reason enough to be thankful?

Normally, people attend to church for a reason whichh is to feed their spiritual life. Someone with no spirituality will get bored in church and its normal.

Haven't attended church continuously since Sunday school when I was a boy. Why I don't now is just the denominational issue I have with all the indoctrination rampant in most of the major Christian sects. Until last summer I had pretty much given up finding a church I wouldn't feel like a hypocrite during attendance. Started a new job at a hospital and a priest working there gave me some literature to look through, and I liked what I read. Only problem is Russian orthodox churches in my area are non-existent. Closest one is 45 minutes away.
Church to me has always been about brotherhood, and completing myself. I feel I'm a very lone wolf regularly, but when in the house of the Lord, I feel like an actual part of the rest of humanity.

At times you should feel convicted at church. Without conviction you cannot strengthen and mature.

...churches fulfill the aspirations and responsibilities of the Christian community especially as they follow the true purposes of joining together under the banner of Christ . They minister to the poor , the hungry , the sick and the imprisoned as the Bible commands and they spread the gospel of salvation as they go about their ministries . Jesus calls the church his bride for a reason .

Russian Orthodox has imo the best liturgy in the world. I used to attend to one of the church years ago in Montreal and I really like it
