You have got to be kidding right ?

Praying to Mary is idolatry ? What kind of messed up Christian faith do you live by ?

Mary is the mother of Jesus, and refered to as the Mother of God by the Church.

The Catholic church is the original Christian church, and martyrs and christians in the years after Christ, in the first centuries after Christ, while persecuted by the Romans were already praying to Mary. And I feel confident in saying that their interpretation of the word of God was more precise and more accurate than the one any of us have today, considering that some of them had been directly in contact with Jesus, or their parents/grand parents had.

Saying that you cannot pray to Mary is Blasphemy. Mary is as much the mother of the Lord as she is our own mother, and it is normal to pray to her and to ask for her guidance in times of need.

I can't believe some of the nutcase crazy things I am reading when it comes to how some doctrines in the USA pretend to be Christians. Islam has radicals that we call Islamists and who blow up buildings, the Catholic Church and the Holy Vatican has some of you guys ... methodists and members of the "church of jesus christ" etc etc ... Bloody terrorists just as much as Islamists if you ask me. Not surprised Mormons come from the USA ... Some of the stuff I hear and read coming from your country makes me want to pop my ears and tear my eyes out.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Nobody comes to the father except through him. Therefore Mary is not the ultimate path to eternal life. Mary was a human just like you and everyone else.

many people pray to Mary - and to other dead religious people, and many prayers get answered. This is a known fact. Mary (and many more saints, and other holy people, and other enlightened people) are said to appear in the dreams of those who prayed to them, and then God helped somehow.

most agree that it helps to pray to whoever is/was worthy in the eyes of God

but ultimately, for prayers to work, your faith in God must be strong!

Yes, it is good to pray Mary, the mother of God. She is not God herself and she never claim to be. She knows more than anyone, the path that lead your heart to her son Jesus.

Mary is not the mother of God, show me a verse where Jesus called her Mother.. not once did he ever call her Mother, he called her Woman because she is not the mother of God. She wasn't a virgin although she was at the time of the birth of Jesus, she later had other sons which are referenced in the new testament 3 times, and also the Book of James is written by Jesus' brother in flesh.

Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.

Mary can not forgive your sins, do not pray to her, she is human just like you. If you think she is the mother of god, show me a verse that says she is the mother of god, show me a verse which says she can forgive sins. If your Catholic, I'm afraid to tell you that you are not actually a Christian, you need to be born again by the spirit through the grace of god, only by faith you can receive salvation through Jesus Christ. You are blind right now, Just like Nicodemus, I pray the Lord will direct you in the right path.

Edit - I suggest you read acts 14:8-18

This is the response of saints Paul and Barnabas when they heard that people started worshiping them.
(14)But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out (15) and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.

You can learn a lot from Romans chapter 2. I too disagree with praying to Mary, but I do not have the authority to tell someone they are not a Christian.

We should only be praying to the Lord. Praying to anybody else is idolatry, that includes Mary.

Here's a good article on the  rosary:

Mary is not the Lord.

Mary cannot answer your prayers.

She was a person just like your or me.
And no Mary is not an angel.

And just to let you know, God did not give the angels a mortal life, The angels were not hand chosen like each of us.
In a way the angels are amazed by us.

my lax'd christian based views would say as long as you are praying to concentrate your thoughts and have good in mind God wouldn't mind who you pray to
if it were a celebrity perhaps it wouldn't be so orthodox as I'd class that as idolizing someone as a false image, but since God chose her to bear his only 'true' son I don't see what is wrong with praying to mary

my mums reasoning behind praying to mary were that in life the woman gets her way
there was no wine at the wedding and Jesus turned water into wine for his mother and if an issue striked Mary so emotionally surely Jesus would seek to please her and a devout worshiper and do-gooder

whenever I pray, I do not pray to God( the father), Jesus or the holy spirit or anything else be it Mary Madeline or Neil Patrick Harris(random idol)
I pray to all three of the trinity and ask for God the creator's help not any particular of the trinity because in my experience if you ask God the creator for his help you will receive the holy spirit or the faith from God himself

my point may not be given very well but If you truly class yourself as a christian you should not be telling others how to and not to worship God be it through Jesus, Mary or the holy spirit at the end of it all when judgement comes It'll be just you and God together and if you truly need guidance on this I would advise that you pray solemnly to God and ask the holy spirit for help

-God bless.

couldn't agree more
religious extremists are just the devil using religion as a cover imho
Religion should be something personal between yourself and God not to interfere with others beliefs and lives

Dear friend,

The reason I say that Catholics aren't Christians is because I was brought up into a home as an Orthodox, we shared a lot of similarities with Catholics, I grew up thinking I was a Christian when I really wasn't. I thought being baptized as a baby and believing in God made me a Christian, when the truth is I wasn't anything like a real christian, knowing God and believing in a God does not make a person Christian, for even Satan believes there is a God. Growing up I always considered my Christian, the possibility of me not being a Christian did not ever cross my mind, only when I realized that I had to be born again by spirit that I could be saved, immediately after I was born again the holy spirit worked in me and changed me, and I started understanding when I read the bible. Many people are deceived by Satan and think they are Christians, but the matter of fact is they do not know righteousness or wish to seek it.

Matt 7:22,23
Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

For everyone here who prays to Mary or any other human, you prayers will be unheard and unanswered. Furthermore, by praying to Mary you are assuming that Jesus cannot help you and you must turn to her, why pray to Mary when you can pray to God?

Matt 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
1 John 5:14,15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
Matt 12:46-50 While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

The last verse is very powerful to swallow for most people who pray to Mary. Now I challenge all you worshipers of men to show me a verse that says Mary is divine, or that she can answer your prayers or that she can forgive your sins. Not only should you not pray to any human, but you should also not pray to any angel, because angels are our servants.

Mary is son of Jesus right ? Jesus is son of God right ? Jesus is God right ? Therefore Mary is the mother of God
