Bitcoin’s journey:

$0 - $1000: 1789 days
$1000- $2000: 1271 days
$2000- $3000: 23 days
$3000- $4000: 62 days
$4000- $5000: 61 days
$5000- $6000: 8 days
$6000- $7000: 13 days
$7000- $8000: 14 days

It's still definitely not "too late to get in"

Everyone who thinks this is all speculation, and a big bubble is going to be kicking themselves. The CME group is beginning it's testing bitcoin futures this Monday November 20th.

Bitcoin is not a joke.
Bitcoin is not just nerd money.

Bitcoin is nothing like the forum gold here, except its easy to transfer and keep track of. We've all had plenty of practice over the years using forum gold, so you know how convenient it is to use a form of digital currency. I expected a lot more people in this group especially to adopt the new currency more readily.

Bitcoin doesn't require middlemen. No intermediaries whatsoever to exchange value peer to peer. It's a new technology that is open sourced, constantly improving, moving fast into our future.

I know where I'm going to be in the history books, but where will you be? Governments are just large groups of middlemen. They will be disrupted out of civilization just like banks are being disrupted out right now.

When governance is open and distributed on a public ledger immutable to attacks and censorship resistant, only then will we be properly represented by ourselves, by a true democratic consensus. A true free market never before seen in the history of the known universe.

Bitcoins scaling problems will soon be a thing of the past. Anonymity is coming to the bitcoin network opening up a true anarcho capitalist world to engage in. Freedom is just around the corner now and I hope it happens relatively peacefully. The establishment won't go down without a fight, so I'd you're still an order taker, know that you don't have to take orders from anybody anymore.

Buy bitcoin. Be free.

Not what i mean though. Gov'ts will eventually collude to reign in control over cryptos no way are the big banks going to sit idly by and lose their grip.

This is the reason I've not gotten into it.

The bottom could fall out any day by news of regulation attempts

I think it's the future of currencies. I listen to some podcasts about cryptos & technology is surely legit, i just think eventually the world banks are going to come out with their own versions, ones that they control & regulate. When that happens i think the currencies that don't have "the backing" are going to be worthless.

It's interesting, but how "the future" is it? Is it ten years? Fifty years?

What happens to the initial forms during the turmoil until then?

It's just too risky atm for me to consider.

Safer to just invest in strong, growing businesses for long-term, and volatility for short term.

Anywhere bitcoin is restricted, the price goes up effectively making it more attractive to new adopters and developers are still pouring in to make it better everyday. I wouldn't put all my eggs in the bitcoin basket alone but the index fund for crypto currencies is attractive for the next 100 years or more.
