non-issue. kneel, stand, sit, do whatever. NFL can deal with it on their own volition.
if it's about drawing attention to issues, then actions like JJ Watt's, who has helped put together a $37MM+ fund for Hurricane Relief victims in Houston, seem to be more effective in terms of using the NFL platform to promote good deeds and proper change in the community.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20810701/pittsburgh-steelers-surprised-alejandro-villanueva-movethis was interesting - the coach, Mike Tomlin, and James Harrison were both less-than-subtle at their being upset that Alejandro Villanueva chose to stand alone on the field (outside the tunnel) for the National Anthem. the rest of the squad said they were going to sit in the locker room but then stood in the tunnel, far behind their lone teammate.
Villanueva went to West Point, served three tours in Afghanistan for the Army, achieved Army Ranger and Captain ranking, then he tried out for NFL teams and made it in 2014 (first for the Eagles, then he was waived and went to the Steelers where he plays today)
