I remember what a beautiful day it was on September 11 , 2001 in Washington D.C. as I sat there and watched the unfolding of a story that would forever change the world we live in .

The television was showing a gaping hole in one of the Twin Towers and I sat there rivetted to the screen as the commentators were discussing what type of plane could have caused that large a hole in the structure .

And as I watched I saw the enormous fireball as the second plane hit the other tower and like everyone else watching I knew in an instant that we were under attack .

I sat there glued to the screen as the smoke grew and grew and grew unable to avert my eyes from the horror unfolding before us .

... and then the most horrific sight I have ever seen in my life took place as the first tower crumbled and slowly disappeaed in a growing cloud of smoke and dust and I remember that it felt exactly like someone had reached inside of me and tried to pull my stomach out through my throat , something I feel to this day whenever I am reminded of that image .

...and then I thought of all those people who must have still been trapped inside and I did the only thing I could do . I broke down and I cried and I still remember the heat from those tears as they rolled down my face and began to soak my shirt and they kept coming as I shed every tear I had ever suppressed because men don't cry and I cried some more and I can barely see through the tears in my eyes right now as I type this as all those feelings come flooding over me once again .

As we approach the tenth anniversary of that dreadful day I can say with absolute certainty that I will never forget .

I will never forget because I can't , because those images will never leave me , because they are as much a part of me as a the fingers I use use to write this with ; they have beome a part of my character that I will carry to my grave and only then will I be free of the remembering .

...and I know what the next hanfdul of days holds in store for me as we relive that day over and over again . I will be crying and I won't even bother trying to stop the tears .

...because I can't !

Ladies and gentlemen, the last 4 years' topics on the matter. If you're going to waste our time with your worthless conspiracy theories, go see where your arguments have already been addressed, ad nauseum.

I was 12 and home from school sick. I remember watching it all and not really comprehending it.

I was already an adult, and already a veteran. I took the attacks very personally and was rather traumatized by them.

As i was a child at the time i had very few reactions, i was mostly confused. One thing i will always remember however was the absolute silence and shock i could see on the teachers' faces. Not a single teacher had any idea what to do, and thats what scared me at the time. I could feel the event was unprecedented in nature.

I was managing A building Supply Center in a small town we had a little TV in the "Contractors area" chairs and coffee. we kept the coverage on and every customer just walked over and stood and watched the little set. We got quite a crowd for a while people were just very quiet at first. We all got loud pretty quickly But I think first there was Shock that this was possible.

The caseys (a chain gas station owned by the Walton-Walmart family) The caseys in town instantly jumped their gas from like $2.23ish to over $5.00 I remember there were lines at all of the gas stations blocks long. I had a company truck and had filled both tanks early that morning. thank goodness.

That afternoon when I had made it home I was doing evening chores and heard a weird sound up in the sky I saw the only passenger jet to fly in the sky for quite a while it had a couple F15's flying at each wing, going East. It was Air force One bringing the President back to DC.

I remember very vividly. I was in the last year of primary school, I just got home from school. My sister was listening to the radio and told me a plane crashed into the World Trace Center in New York. I told her they were probably joking/lying, it was so unbelievable. She insisted, then we turned the tv on. My mom came home around the same time, and we watched in awe as we saw plane @2 crashing through WTC#2. Shock and horror. Utter confusion.

That evening I was glued to the screen as we heard of a terrorist attack by Al Qaeda. I was so angry. I saw people jumping to their deaths out of the Twin Towers as a 11 year old. I think that might be the defining day my juvenile innocence shattered.

....fourteen years later and I still have an immediate emotional connection to what we witnessed that day .
