It is that somber time of year again. Perhaps we can use this thread as a "where were you when..." thread?



For me, I was living with my brother at the time, and he woke me to the news of the first crash, and I watched the second crash on live television. I lost my first attempt at quitting smoking that morning, and I cried openly when the towers collapsed.

My friend woke me up with a phone call after the first plane hit, and I remember being under the impression it was a horrible accident for a little bit.

I had been awake all night, i was still awake playing diablo 2.

Interesting morning to say the least.

I was in my 5th grade classroom. After our teacher told us, we listened to the radio until we left.

I'll be abstaining from alcohol this September 11th.

Yeah, I suppose d2 was a new game then.

I was paving and sealing coating a private driveway in Indiana when my dad called me and told me what happened. He was kind of....spacey so I wasn't positive it was real until my coworkers started receiving calls.

Had no idea how big it was until later...the World Trade Center was attacked before when I was young...I had no clue of the magnitude of it until I seen the footage later.

It still chokes me up when it is played, and I get pissed off when people play it in less than classy times and places.

I was in school, then I went home and watched all the planes flying around in the sky.

...like many if not most I thought the first plane was probably an accident and was sitting there watching the coverage when the second plane hit . It was now obvious we were under terrorist attack and like the OP I remember my exact emotions when the first tower collapsed . The day always brings on a deep sadness and a few tears .

was walking to the bus when some girl ran up and said planes are crashing into buildings
I was like where she said new york and that 2 more planes are heading for the white house and pentagon (before they hit in shanksville and the pentagon)
There was a 30 min long announcement that morning and I dont think any "teaching" happened that day or even the rest of the week. We watched the news all day IIRC

It was tons of fun at the time.

pking was the game for me.

I cant recall my emotions regarding it really, i was a little on the emotionless side back then.
