Interesting little article, for my yankee friends here.

http://thoughtcatalog.com/2013/10-things-most-americans-dont-know-about-america/

What is your take on this? Most these points are simple fun little things, what about the bigger points towards the end?

alot of the comments come across as unnecessarily bias

other then that i have no problem with the article, as the title does state "10 Things Most Americans Don’t Know About America"

...you didn't make a single argument , you posted a link to someone else's opinion .

...vacuous horseshit . If you want to make an anti-America thread at least have the intellectual integrity to compose something with original content .

Indeed

The fact people need to try to bash America says it all -

No one makes - your random shithole country posts- because no one cares enough to bother

As to the article it's just lazy opinion drivel - generalizing people, supporting nothing

Then he notifies everyone of his ignorance by trying to preempt the anticipated contradictory anecdotes - but.... When all you have as your argument is a stupid fucking opinion generalization....that's all you need to rebut it. ( well honestly you don't even need to rebut a baseless unsupported rant) but it's what it deserves at the very most

1. FEW PEOPLE ARE IMPRESSED BY US
(the same could be said about any other nationality

2. FEW PEOPLE HATE US
the same could be said countless other countries

3. WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE REST OF THE WORLD
i got A's in every aspect of my 7th grade geography class. i used to know every country and capital. that was 13 years ago and i tend to purge out useless information as i get older. i also took social studies in and history in 8th grade.. high school was more lit classes, spanish and more occupational classes like architecture and wood-working. obviously math.. i also went to art college to become a graphic designer. i don't know what is being taught nowadays, but i know where countries are located.

4. WE ARE POOR AT EXPRESSING GRATITUDE AND AFFECTION
i say 'may i please' at fast food restaurants. i'm a very caring and compassionate person. i also don't drink. "..In America, women usually get incredibly nervous and confused" ..the person writing the article was probably bothering girls out oh his league.

5. THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE AVERAGE AMERICAN IS NOT THAT GREAT
i agree.

6. THE REST OF THE WORLD IS NOT A SLUM-RIDDEN SHITHOLE COMPARED TO US
so much to say.. dubai has a tall building, but shitty everything else..too much to mention. japan has nice trains, but horrible smog. norweigians make more and spend double what we pay for gas. sweden/south korea might have high speed internet, but what that normally means is they have fast download, but average upload. i personally utilize upload a lot and pay for 20mbs of upload. my friends in the UK might have 120 download, but they're all under 10mbs upload. a lot of the areas are growing economies, so the places look nice, because they're the last people to upgrade.

7. WE’RE PARANOID
i'm not. my dad my carry and concealed weapon and have 4 cameras on his house, but i don't. i will say i don't trust drivers though, considering i see countless horrible ones daily.

8. WE’RE STATUS-OBSESSED AND SEEK ATTENTION
this is human nature and a world trait..unless you're a amish.

9. WE ARE VERY UNHEALTHY
mexico passed us.. also, BMI is also bullshit.

10. WE MISTAKE COMFORT FOR HAPPINESS
"..rather than for legitimate cultural experiences that may challenge our perspectives or help us grow as individuals." ..there's a lot of food that doesn't taste good. there's a lot of music that doesn't sound good. there's a lot of illogical traditions based only on tradition without any rhyme or reason. i also don't believe in anyone's religions or superstitions.
