Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more. Proverbs 9:9

Back to Psalms I go. Proverbs is good but Psalms is great. :)

Psalms 10
16 The LORD is King for ever and ever;
the nations will perish from his land.

17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,

18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed,
in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.

Seneca's Epistulae Morales > Bible.

Wisdom is the greatest good. Everything else belongs to the class of indifferentia.

"Christian civilization crushes and cramps the minds of its youth by means of false philosophies, artificial moral
codes and ironclad political creeds. Deleterious sub-theories of good and evil are systematically
injected into our natural literatures, and gradually (without serious obstruction) they crystallize themselves into
cast iron formulas, infallible constitutions, will-o-the-wisp evangels and other deadly epidemics"

Proverbs 3

13Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

14For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

15She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

16Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

17Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

19The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

20By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

21My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

22So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Still not entirely what I meant. The wise does not need understanding, since wisdom and knowledge is the only good that can't be taken away from you. The rest is indifferent. You don't need friends, family or a house to be wise. You only need yourself. I like the verse though :)
