Compared to a world where Hillary is president, the Scotus has been turned blue for a generation and the GOP establishment abandons anything remotely conservative once and for all (pointing to the "trump 2016 disaster" as a cautionary tale)... compared to such a world, I strongly prefer our current situation.

so you prefer elections to be gerrymandered, political power firmly in the hand of corporations, a massive power grab by the executive branch, and a woman's authority over her own body restricted? why doesn't that surprise me?

gerrymandering has nothing to do with the topic we were talking about, which was the presidential election. which btw isnt affected by gerrymandering.
and just btw: gerrymandering would still be there under a president clinton.

do you seriously think Hillary would have been less of a puppet of corporate interests?

Ill second snipa: what are you referring to specifically?

just for the record: Obama was doing a lot of governing via EOs as well. that's just what you get out of a split congress in a hyperpartisan environment.

I dont support these recent attempts by hardline pro-lifers to make a play at getting Roe v. Wade overturned.

To go further, GOP gerrymandering would have been worse under HRC imo. they'd have wanted to take as many seats away from her as possible. just like the mandate sweep Obama got in 2010.

the Democrats were already atrophied in state legislatures and governorships after the Obama years, and a Clinton presidency on top would only have made it worse. so when the census hits in 2020, the GOP would have had control of an overwhelming majority of the places where the new districts will be drawn and approved.

instead, with Trump in the White House, the Democrats were able to win back some of the lost ground in state legislatures and governorships, and they will probably continue to do so in 2020.
hence, due to Trump having won in 2016 instead of Hillary, I expect the maps for the 2022-2030 cycle to be less tilted overall.

Nominating supreme court picks isn't a massive power grab or a bad thing.
