That's fair. My claim was probably too extreme. They shouldn't be looked at in the exact same way.
Religion shouldn't be ridiculed, but it should be able to be criticized. Same with conspiracy theories. You probably agree with this, we probably both agree being in a free country is a great thing. So that's how I probably should have said it so I wasn't as much as an asshole about it.
I think freedom of religion is a beautiful thing. I also think religion and a lot of conspiracy theories are similar in that you often believe in things with a large lack of evidence and take large leaps in logic in order to accept them as true.
But perhaps I just lack faith. Maybe some day I will see the light...
