This is exactly right, except for the last bit: the traces would still be evident for months after that period, meaning Iran would gain little to nothing even if they had unseen facilities to move that material too. The mechanism to reapply sanctions is strong (though it could be stronger), and that doesn't even get into the repercussions Iran would face if the P5+1 determined that they had gone back on the deal.

I meant underground/unknown facilities that might be used to enrich, while we monitor the known ones.

To be honest i don't think Iran really needs/wants the nukes now, their biding their time. This deal will make it through despite opposition and 10 years from now people will acknowledge that what Iran wanted is to finally be part of the world. A lot of people like to paint the Persians as some backward people that would sacrifice their children to just have a chance to attack Israel and i just don't think this is the case. They don't seem self destructive and compared to what some of the Sunni nations are supporting in the region they look like good guys.

The Iranians are shrewd, they got a good deal and in a decade or two will eclipse the Saudis and Turks as the hegemon of ME. The Europeans know this, the Russians and Chinese know this everyone knows this and now the US is starting to get with the crowd.

Peace in the middle east is on the horizon in my opinion. The day will come were the walls of Israel will no longer be needed and my fellow Christians know what this is a sign of.

...I'm going to put this alleged deal in perspective for you . Iran is an Islamic theocracy that as a part of their religious belief system accepts and promotes that lying to infidels is acceptable as a part of their military strategy . Mohammad taught that war is about deceit so keep this in mind when they start handing out the Nobel Peace Prizes for this farce .

... i'm going to put U.S. foreign policy in perspective for you. the U.S. is an on paper democracy run and controlled by christian extremists that think not only lying to and spying on their allies is acceptable but they're doing the same to their own population. they constantly attack and invade sovereign states under false pretenses to secure access to natural resources for their companies. keep this in mind when those very people try to fear monger and vilify a deal that is considered a great one by the vast majority of world leaders.

This is unfortunate. Flake is one of the very few members of the Senate Republican caucus who are willing to put to work in and really own his vote (one of the reasons he waited this long to announce his intentions), but he's going to be a "no" on the deal. It doesn't change the probable result (Congress bans deal, Obama vetoes, veto is sustained and deal goes through) though.

Flake did at least admit that the deal does restrict Iran's ability to develop a weapon, which is something that most people in his party have either ignored or have bizarrely contended the opposite.

I found it hard to believe Iranian society is so polarized as the media paints them out to be. I mean there is endless videos on iran society. there is even a Jewish population in iran.

In fact I can't help but even agree with what these citizens.

While our delusional right wing quackos are brainwashed by propaganda from our own politics. these citizens have a better grasp on what goes on then we do its pathetic.

AP blew a story, Republicans jumped, facts were then dispensed and we're back to counting votes. It's getting interesting in the Senate where the GOP might not even be able to get a disapproval to Obama in the first place. That'd require four more Democratic Senators to join with the only 2 oppose the deal to clear a filibuster. There's no telling how many Democrats will eventually vote against the agreement (it'll be between 2-12) but it'd be a humiliating defeat for McConnell and pals if they can't even get 4 in order to advance a disapproval.

They'd likely try to spare themselves some embarrassment by flipping the bill over -- putting an approval on the floor instead and watching it not clear 50 votes since they would all vote against it -- but they'd suffer the loss regardless. It's kind of hard to ignore the trend here: first from the Republicans came "we will kill the agreement." Then came "we will override Obama's veto." Then came "we can pass disapproval, but Obama will just veto it." Now it might be "we can't even pass a true disapproval."

Tom Carper became the 30th Senate Democrat to support the agreement. There are still 14 Democrats undecided; 2 of them are supposedly leaning towards supporting it. Opponents of the deal would need 13 of the remaining 14 undecided Democrats to side with them in order to override a presidential veto. If opponents fail to get 4 of the 14 undecided Senators to side with them then they won't even be able to override a filibuster, meaning it wouldn't even take an Obama veto to move forward with the agreement.

Things look bad for opponents. They're pretty much accepting defeat at this point, and are down to pretty much hopinng a new revelation pops up that causes supporters to flip their votes.

29 nuclear scientists, including 5 nobel laureates, praised the Iran deal yesterday:

Does anyone want to weigh in on how they know more than 29 nuclear scientists?

You mean like when a bunch climate/geography scientist claimed global warming was going to destroy Earth by 2019 ?

Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski just became the 34th Senate Democrat to voice support for the deal, which now means Obama's reached veto-proof support assuming everyone votes as they've indicated so far. Now the only thing left to watch is whether or not the Republicans will even be able to get a measure of disapproval to his desk.

On another interesting note, apparently even Ron Paul came out in support of this deal back in July: http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/248414-ron-paul-supports-iran-deal
