Except they are a minority group. And their rights are in jeopardy, for instance, this topic is just five topics below this one: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=67270830&f=119

There are 90 guns for every 100 people in the US. Hardly a minority.
We couldn't even pass the bill for fucking background checks to own a gun, you really think guns are being banned any time soon? Get out of here dude.

Yes, but most gun owners own more than one gun. Only 47% of the population has a firearm in their house, making them a minority.

They failed this time. You should note that gun laws are already much too strict, both at the federal level and in states. For instance:
-Machineguns are banned at the federal level.
-Suppressors, sawed-off shotguns, etc. are heavily regulated at the federal level.
-Open carry isn't legal in many states.
-Concealed carry isn't legal in the District of Columbia.
-College students, professors, etc. aren't allowed to carry on campus.
-And various states and municipalities have a wide array of draconian gun laws.

Really? You think banning machine guns is an example of gun law being too strict? You must be a redneck.

you can't pretend the purpose of the things you're comparing are irrelevant

guns are made specifically for killing/injuring/threatening

you might as well compare pencils with knives as stabbing weapons

The PURPOSE of guns is to grant the possessor a reasonable means of enforcing their innate right to self-preservation/defense. This one right is the most sacrosanct of all.

I would, but you've demonstrated an incapacity for reading comprehension that is nearly insurmountable.

My mistake, sorry. I was under the impression that the Hughes Amendment effectively ended the sale of machineguns on the private market.

What happened to you, Jay? You used to be one of the more rational, respectable and moderate members of the forum? Now it seems like you've resorted to the same despicable partisanship and bickering that has plagued this forum for ages.
