and that's the interesting thing about wd40 - if there was no bag, you'd never use it for firearms because wd40 attracts water, but since it can never dry while sealed, it will actively displace moisture and quantitatively do the same thing that a waxier grease (like cosmoline) or hydrophobic oil would do, both displace and repel the water.

Yeah, what we did when we buried guns was put them in air tight containers and set long burning candles inside to take out all the oxygen.

I had to check to see if anthrax got himself banned, no idea how to find him though. anthrax =/= anphrax mostly likely though
That's an interesting trick with the candles. My great uncle buried two pretty old unregistered revolvers in a .45 long colt ammo box packed to the gills with tractor grease. It's at the bottom of a hole somewhere with about two hundred rounds of .38 short colt and a handwritten note, but we have no idea where he buried it even if it is somewhere on the family property.

It works well, longest we have left one in the ground was 8 years and its still in identical condition.
