I already don't buy Chick-fil-A, so w/e.

No time for google. All I get is the time people need for smoke breaks everyone is taking from the hag n stag party.

Spreading the information about what Chick-fil-A uses some of their profit on and then also boycotting them =/= "demanding" people to not buy their stuff.

Which can you fault people for spreading such information? I mean, even you didn't know what was actually going on with this whole fiasco.

Calling for boycotts is that chickenshit bit I was mentioning earlier.

So people shouldn't buy from them because they disagree with their politics, but informing others of that fact in an organized fashion is chickenshit?

Not sure I'm following the bouncing ball on that one.

Calling for boycotts is also freedom of speech. Nobody is coercing anyone; they're only giving an outlet for those who agree with a particular sentiment.

I didn't say calling for a boycott is unconstitutional. I said it was chickenshit.

Not informing others, extolling them.

My own personal example is Progressive insurance. I refuse to use them because of where the profit dollars end up. I even tell people I don't do business with Progressive for political reasons. What I don't do is tell my friends they shouldn't deal with Progressive. They can make up their own minds.

This is indeed about being butthurt over people having different opinions. Chick-fil-A is against gay marriage, so what? Most of this country is against gay marriage.

False. You're two years late to say that.

You can link all the faulty polls you want. I am going to simply state that there have been 31 official polls as to the gay marriage question, and the country has been overwhelmingly against it.
Most of this country is explicitly against gay marriage. What you fill out on your gallup telephone poll is irrelevant. What you vote in the ballot box is what matters.

Another 8 are lined up, and 8 of those 8 are about to pass it.
Its not exactly a secret, gay marriage does not enjoy widespread support.
Theres a difference between being a progressive and a realist, isn't there? I can support gay marriage all I want and work to advance social change, but underestimating how much of a battle it is, and denying the facts, well that doesn't help
Gays are still not popular. Especially given the black vote, which is vehemently anti-gay.

Look, atheism is the truth. Gay marriage is the right thing to do. Thats all well and good. But gays are wildly hated, and atheists hated even more
If we don't accept those simple latter facts, it doesn't matter what you think about the former ones- its self destructive effort if we're living in a fantasy world.

Again, you don't realize that there is a giant self-selective bias in taking voting numbers as a sample of the entire country. The country is pro-gay, but the segment of the country that votes is very anti-gay. You can't extrapolate a self-selected sample out to the whole, that's like statistical bias 101

i would generally take a random sampling over a group of motivated self reporters
not to mention those americans without the franchise

you could very well be right that america is overwhelmingly anti gay , or at least theres a majority
but basing it off the voting booth isnt proving it

The 'country is pro gay' but the 'segment that votes is very anti-gay'?
Come on, are you trying to be purposefully meaningless?

If the voting segment of the country is anti-gay, the country is anti-gay, by definition. Thats what votes mean, thats what they're for, thats what counts at the end of the day.
The majority of this country "voted" for Al Gore, does that matter either? No. Because how the states vote is what matters.
Well on state levels, how the people vote is what matters, and the people have overwhelmingly and consistently voted anti-gay on every single opportunity
