Irrelevant.

Not to an American. We take the concept of "taxation without representation" rather seriously. These people are complaining they were excluded from the process of enacting this law, and only afforded a vote of yes or no after it was already written. They weren't consulted, and they are the ones affected by a law passed by people who aren't affected by it.

Two of the many bullet points of the Declaration of Independence:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.

and

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

Except that they are fully represented in the legislature.  They just happen to be in the minority and don't like it.  It's amazing that this (allegedly) adult version of "I'm going to take my marbles and go home" elicits anything more than the laugh it deserves.

See the 1st bold above.

/e Hell, even your governor was quoted as saying you guys had a flaw in your process on this one. But he still signed it.

Like California?

You can't blame California over its electrical problems in the past 15 years. It began because Enron employees decided to hit the state up for money for a couple arbitrary reasons, such as that it was liberal.

Enron was 15 years ago. They are still having rolling blackouts to this day.

Meh. I still think Enron fucked that state big-time. How many tens of billions did California have deficits of from that? Enough to have made a more stable power grid.

It's called self-determination?

Next time you try to stir up a discussion, use the real article and not a gaming forum link.

Basically, it's just a minority of crybabies just like with all the other states that tried to secede when Obama got reelected.

Enron certainly fucked them over, but that's only a part of the equation, none of which has to do with the electricity supply. California's finances are also fucked because the contracts the state signs with their unions allow ridiculous assumptions of rates of return (typically near 8.5%), and any shortfall in the pension funds' actual returns and the contractual return guarantees are made up by the taxpayers. California's pension system was overly invested in Enron, and when they went belly up, the taxpayers were even more on the hook for the shortfalls. But that's just the state's finances. Electricity supply is (was, really - they've gotten better but still have rolling blackouts) an issue over overregulation.

I actually meant to post the actual link, I must have accidentally copied the wrong URL.

Do you have any proof that if this was put to a referendum in Northern Colorado, that the majority of the people wouldn't support it?

There is nothing wrong with them wanting to become a new state.
The elected officials of the states are refusing to acknowledge them, and destroying their very ways of life.

Not to mention, It'd be one state closer to Obama being able to visit all 57 States.

What the fuck does this even mean? Are you asking me for proof of a hypothetical situation? If the urban areas have enough political power to push unwanted legislation on the rural areas (or so they say), what makes you think they'll agree to letting them secede?

Your posts and threads are getting worse and worse. Going to be going back to full blown old swazi soon.
