I know.  All you have do to is go read the Federalist Papers, and you'll see it's clear that the Founders intended for every redneck in the country to carry concealed automatic pistols with high capacity magazines everywhere they go.

Rednecks >

besides, this march is all about rifles slung over the shoulder.

I support the right to protest.

What they are doing is illegal though. Would you support protesters carrying around child porn or bags of heroin?

Yeah, I kept looking for that in my copy of the Federalist Papers, but I kept getting distracted by all the calls for a culture war.

Clearly. I can't wait until we hit the freedom level of Afghanistan and Pakistan. I get a little misty when I think about places like the Central African Republic even though I now that's just a pipe dream.

It's right after the part about free speech on the internet, but before searching a person's email account.

They do not have to be a well regulated militia, the right to keep and bear arms applies to all individual American citizens, except when specifically removed through the due process of the law.

Only morons think the right is explicitly for maintaining a militia. go read some contemporaneous literature to see exactly what the founders intended.

Just wondering, why do you think the founders bothered to include all the words which precede "the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed"?

I am genuinely curious because I don't understand why the words would be written if the fathers did not wish to emphasize the regulation of the militia.

I'm somewhat of a Neanderthal so if you could please take the time to enlighten me on this matter I would be grateful.

If you cannot be bothered, I understand.

Because Liberals tend to forget the part about a well-regulated militia "being necessary to the security of a free state." The right to keep and bear arms was first and foremost a hedge against an all-powerful government. Also, under contemporaneous understanding, ALL men were considered potential members of the militia.

Right, I understand. But didn't the Heller decision soley emphasize "the right of the people to keep and bear arms"?

Perhaps not, but if that is the case it smacks of judicial activism.

But I'm just a caveman, your world frightens and confuses me.
