There's always an exception. Doesn't change the fact even those developers on Kickstarter have disdain for piracy. Kickstarter is also a response to piracy, not a response to state of video games. It's a sign of how bad a shape the video game industry is in.

So you admit we got a console port instead of a pc built game, this is why rockstar got shit on for pc, because no one wants that shit.
Do you also admit that gta 1 and 2 were pretty much popular BECAUSE of piracy?
Word of mouth is what made those games huge, most of it due to piracy.

Almost all PC games are console ports. Skyrim was, but Skyrim on PC is the best version. Games like that are dying. We won't have games like Skyrim that are just as good on the PC if not better than they are on console.

The ports of GTA III-Vice City-San Andreas were just as good as the console version. GTA IV was not. GTA V won't even get a PC release. Blame piracy for a game that unlike the Call of Duty's of the world has taken 5+ years of development, crafting, and originality, but won't get on the PC because of piracy.

Yea and did you deliver CDs to all your friends? Of course not. With the internet you could upload files to millions and millions of people.

I pretty much did to be honest, back then you could fit 30-100 games on one disk, if any one wanted anything id give it to them.

It is a sign of evolution.
If piracy crushes all companies why is good old games thriving?
Failure to adapt kills companies.

It crushes developers, who are forced to make catch-all games or micro-transaction games instead of full on games. Mechwarrior Online should be Mechwarrior 5, with similar online game modes but a great single player. It won't happen because of piracy. Bioware shouldn't have had to make Mass Effect and Dragon Age more appealing to a bigger audience, but they were forced to. GTA V should be on PC, but it won't be because of piracy. Kickstarter shouldn't be neccesary for small developers, but it is.

You HAVE to be online to play ANY Blizzard game now. Personally, I'm ok with this, but it's a pain in the ass for some people.

I'd rather companies spend resources on developing a good game with a great story line instead of trying to figure out how to stay in business.

Which is what kickstarter allowed them to do.

No it won't. Weissman has given up on it and has only stayed on with Pirhanna because Mechwarrior is his baby. The developers of MWO said that if MW5 gets made it won't be by them because they exhuasted all options trying to get funding for MW5, not being able to get it. Unless MWO becomes as succesful as WoT and then some, MW5 will not see the light of day.

Bioware is still one of the most respected developers, but even they know you can't spend tens of millions of a game and have it not appeal to a wide audience.

Blizzard's product quality has diminished as well. They focused on WoW, generating revenue from Koreans with Starcraft and put out one of the most disappointing games of last year.

Kickstarter is cool, but you need a pretty large development team to make a really sick game. Have you taken a look at the credits for large games vs. indy games?

Honestly my favorite games of the last few years have been indie.
I like path of exile more than d3, i like terraria more than pretty much anything lol.

Cool story bro. At the end of the day though, indy games rely on graphics engines that have already been built.

Prior to this, you could just get venture capital to raise a proper development team. Do you know what they ask for now? How are you going to prevent piracy so that sales translate to me making money? That means raising more money so that you can come up with innovative ways to prevent piracy.
