well i feel vindicated. all of the morons who got a boner from the Moon-Un ribbon cutting can go back to being terrified that a nuke is heading for california any second now.

Kim Jong Il had one effective play, threaten to turn up or down hostilities as the situation requires. Now his son has that same play, but with nukes he has a pro bowl running back instead of an aged middling back. still no more motive to murder than your average pick pocket with a swiss army knife but the world doesnt seem to care.



that sarcastic death toll meme is generally funny. however in this case continued hostilities mean that tens or hundreds of thousands will die as a result. millions will live in malnutrition. the numbers heading into death camps will increase so that Kim can mine their human capital before they starve.

I think we could have at least canceled/delayed Max Thunder this year, so the DPRK would have no excuse. If they wanted to drum up some thinner pretense they still could, but we gave them an easy out. And if they had, then whats the appeasement blowing up in our faces? Canceling a military drill? Nobody would care. This might work out for Trump in dismissing criticism of letting North Korea play him that would have been severe if they had canceled or exploited it, but it isn't working out for world peace.

As I've said before, I don't think NK even cares about the military drills. I think this is all about China and the South China Sea.
I think China is just using NK to make it seem like the US should leave, both the land and the water anywhere near China and the South China Sea.
