Acceptance goes both ways. I've heard plenty of atheists say "even if I somehow knew God was real I still wouldn't worship him for whatever reason". Man wants to be his own God, he doesn't want to learn about the reality of the universe.

God isn't obsessed with our every move, that's the Catholic God you and me learned about in catechism, not the Christian God.
