Are they economically important enough to be their own state? No? Then they can be told to fuck off.

DC isn't a state, it is a city.  It doesn't have a senator or a governor....it has a mayor and a congressman.

Also I'm not sure that Southern Colorado will consent to being ripped in half.

Yet the left wants to make them a state?

States aren't organized around their economic power. They are organized to represent the interests of their inhabitants. These people felt they were not represented at all.

Basically, a lot of people in rural Colorado are tired of liberal urbanites dictating policies to them. Colorado is a state whose government is heavily slanted towards the predominately left-wing urban population, leaving the rural population with no real influence or say in government. To make matters worse, the left-wing government has recently passed tax increases that only apply to those living in rural areas and banning guns. As thus, the good people of Northern Colorado want to secede and become a new state. Do you think they should become a state?

It's gonna be lulz when those people are all starving to death and have no electricity.

Why would anyone want to allow a bunch of radicalized, weaponized, right wing fundamentalist fanatic religious zealots to form their own state under Sharia Christian law?

instead of seceding to become their own state, why not make them part of wyoming or nebraska? i imagine those are closer in line to their principles and needs.

Well, statehood would be one solution to the political fight sure to ensue over admitting Puerto Rico into the union.

That isn't the issue. The issue is that a bunch of legislators from urban Colorado, in their push to be green, didn't take their rural counterparts into the considerations for the bill, and forced it on just rural areas. It's akin to taxation without representation in principle.

Except that they are fully represented in the legislature. They just happen to be in the minority and don't like it. It's amazing that this (allegedly) adult version of "I'm going to take my marbles and go home" elicits anything more than the laugh it deserves.
