Yes, they carry similar responsibilities, e.g., caring for the child, supporting the child financially, often by legal force, etc., Men not only do not get to make a conscious decision about whether their child lives or dies after insemination but they also get punished in most legal scenarios.
Also, men do not have as many contraception options as women, there is no male pill yet, vasectomy is hard to reverse and condoms can be unreliable, even nullified (without punishment) by women seeking an 'accidental' pregnancy without both parties giving consent.
I see what this man did as no
worse than an abortion, though I am against abortion in its entirety, I believe that this should be treated the same way as an abortion is treated legally in reversed circumstances. If this cannot be upheld with full consideration of the reverse than abortion should also be banned.
