"He found college is “worth it” if you get into a top tier university like Stanford, or study an in-demand field like nuclear engineering at even a lower tier school.
The problem, Bennett says, is people going to second-tier schools, majoring in less-marketable liberal arts fields, and taking on debt to do so."

So basically what we already knew

I'd be interested in looking into this while eliminating all the worthless liberal arts majors.

People often complain about taxes in Canada, but students here do not end up indentured servants to debt. Our education is heavily subsidized through tax payers, and I paid about 6.5 thousand a year. I had a 4k entrance scholarship (renewable) along with scholarships, grants and bursaries, so I actually got a little spending money and no debt.

This is a state-to-state problem here. I got a undergrad degree spending almost none of my money over 3.5 years (4k/year in-state tuition in my cheaper home state, university close enough that I could drive from my parents' house) via scholarships and by virtue of living in a much cheaper state, tuitions are much much higher in some states and housing can amplify the costs.
