Is the creator given positive attributes? Or is it just an unknown creator?

The way i see it, the more we know about science, the more we understand the origin of things, the less you need a god to explain anything.
And if there is no need for such a being to exist, then it is likely that one does not exist.

What can be posited without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. Additionally, ask oneself, what difference does it make in believing in an unknown creator? Does it change anything?

I need to read up on why Stephen Hawking thinks that the universe does not need a god to be created.

That's weird. How does this work with atheists?

I don't think it changes much. I'd like to understand its motives, I guess. I want to know the truth.

yeah, the existence of God is not really falsifiable
you can make believing him absurd, or point out all the inconsistencies and holes, but it can't be proven wrong

Because if a supernatural being exists, it exists outside of our reality. We would need a way to repeatedly contact or visit such a being in a way anyone could do so.

No way to prove or disprove the existence of a god?

depends on what you consider proof
from your various posts one has to assume that you do not know that much about the subject
so for starters i would recommend you read at least chapter 4 of http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/philosophy-religion/ namely "4. The Concept of God"
