He might attack Romney's positions if he actually had any.

What do you mean? There is a non-zero chance that Romney will agree with any given position at any given time....

Yeah! That's totally unfair. Romney has ALL the positions.

When you're an incumbent, it's the way to get reelected. Bush did it to Kerry. Bush Sr. didn't do enough negative campaigning against Clinton, and so on and so forth. Romney needs to step up the negative campaigning against Obama or else he won't stand a chance.

Romney needs to focus on reiterating rhetoric on the job market, the bailouts, threats to American civil rights via continuation of the patriot act, G. Bay staying open for so long, the unsuccessful troop surge in Afghanistan, etc. It doesn't matter if he agrees with Obama on any of this, Americans are fickle and treat politics like a football game.

If Romney campaigns that Obama is an inexperienced politician who tried to use his ivy league education to implement textbook communism and failed horribly, he could beat Obama. But Romney won't do that and because of that, he won't win.

I love a story with a happy ending.

Both sides make ridiculous political campaign ads. Romney has ridiculous ones. Obama has ridiculous ones.

And people will actually care about stupid crap.

Oh, sorry, we're talking about the election for the President of the United States of America, not the people who already lost. :(

...the election will swing on the state of the economy in the fall . If the Fed feels forced to print more money next month and the economy continues as is , the Democrats will lose the White House and the Senate with the House staying Republican . No political ad whether positive or negative is going to change this .

I'm dangerously close to giving up state and national politics. This election is really really awful. I don't remember it being this bad and I remember the elections from 1992 on.
