Personally the world of copy righting doesn't make sense to me. So company X makes their brand of a exercise ball and they copy right it. Someone else see's it, they steal the idea but change the name to what they want to call it. More people do the same thing. Just doesn't make sense to me. But yeah, I don't know if I'd go as far to say to totally get rid of it, but it's a joke how sensitive people get about things. Can't write a paper without worrying about getting in trouble for not citing a source properly. It's a joke to me how we had to make specific formats and couldn't just say, that's Joe Smoe for you info about___________

No, the world wouldn't end but a lot of big businesses who rely purely on that shit are gonna have real problems.

For the sake of keeping it clean, lets just talk long term.

Global.

1. Some will, especially the software engineers, audio/film production people, etc., that'll need to be fired when their companies fold since they're based on business models that couldn't survive without copyright

3. I think so, people don't innovate for free as much as they do for money. Private industry would probably stop investing in university research since there would seem to offer less ROI, but they may move back toward in-house private R&D. Secrecy around solutions would become much more important with no legal protections to stop anyone with access to the information from giving it away or repackaging it somehow into a product to sell.

There would be no more research and development. No one would invest. Say good bye to new drugs and technological innovation from any source other than public funding (hah), never mind the end of the entertainment industry.

I personally feel intellectual property should be done away with, and copyright "rights" is the only shady area


...but if we did do away with them, it would significantly decrease the cost of education
